iBurst improves offerings with additional data

To those of you who say we are being negative, I don't think that is a fair comment to make. As it stands right now with our supposed """""BROADBAND""""" offerings we are still being ridiculously overcharged. We are ungrateful because we know the real problems are not being addressed and what we have seen thus far is simply a waste of our time.

Nothing has convinced me to go and get Internet yet because I simply cannot spend that amount of money on it and feel satisfied. Its good to see that the market is shaking up a little bit, yes, but I for one will not settle for any amount of nonsense without FINALLY seeing something worth our time after all these many many years of being ripped off.

You forget, its not only about Joe around the corner getting cheap Internet because he can and loves it, its also about how this state of affairs has had very serious negative implications to our economy. And this is no joke.

The same here and i am on G9 9 gig month to month contract. There is nothing about the 500Mb increase. I heard the advertisement on Highveld Stereo this morning.

LOL! That last statement summed up the negative nancys on this board so well

Well Mr. Positive, how can I be anything but pessimistic about what iBurst says... they made a statements in the media that we now get 500MB extra..

so tell me

WHERE IS MY FARKING 500MBYTES EXTRA????????????????????

More lies from typically greedy SA companies. It's called carrot dangling I believe.

Exactly!

Checked iBurst web site....

Only 24 month packages get the additioanl 500mb... month to month still listed as only 3gb...

What a joke, month to month I pay the same amount to them why is there no increase for me?

Come on iBurst explain?

No joke to us, a very big joke indeed to the ANC. All they see is $$$ being shoved into their pockets, they really couldn't give a **** about anything else.

That's discriminatory... **** them...

Time to get ADSL and vote with my feet!!!

Truth be told iBursts token additional 500mb of bandwidth is a joke. It is only for contract subscribers. This means they have not really improved anything on there service for there users. All they have done is given a token thank you to people who are locked in t o a contract with them.

Interesting part is I still pay the same on a monthly basis.

Wonder if iBurst can explain the discrimination?

At least Sentech gave ALL there subscribers a boost of some sort.

Only for subscribers! This sucks. I was thinking of going somewhere else, now I know. Iburst can kiss my money goodbye.

I feel the same way... iBurst are now starting to go the same road as Sentech...

What I would just like to know:

Whats gonna happen when your 24 month contract is up ... are they going to take away the 500mb as you are then on month-to-month?

heh, this is at least quite justified, you should have seen the crap when Telkom first made 192kb ADSL. Everyone was so pissed off because they were going backwards, and they want faster not slow etc. Then they did away with it and upped it to 384 with the next price drop, so now people are angry again because they don't want faster speeds when they have a 3Gig cap, they wanted the price reduction. Other people complain because 192 made it cheaper.. but apparently they never wanted it in the first place
Who is they? Are the people who complained that 192kb was a step backward the same ones that complained about being moved to 384kb instead of getting a price reduction? Regardless it is still the case that 192kb was the wrong move when what Telkom should have done was just lower the price of 384kb, or even 512kb, to the price they charged for 192kb. Of course back then bandwidth was a lot cheaper too.

Someone who is on a 3Gb account with iBurst should complain that they're getting 1/6th extra bandwidth while the person on 1Gb is getting 50%.

In the end consumers are supposed to be unsatisfied so that they push suppliers to give them better products. I suppose that when we get decent speeds with uncapped accounts at reasonable prices there will be complaints that it took too long, and that is a valid complaint, but I doubt anyone will be complaining about being uncapped.

So first everyone says the 500MB extra on the bigger packages is a joke, now they find out it's only available for contract users and they bitch because they didn't get any on their month2month? WTF?

People are never happy.

Ja but in SA suppliers do not want to or actively refuse to give them better products.
In SA, the customer/consumer is the enemy, remember?

well clearly those not on contract have been bitching since the beginning... there is not even the 500mb for them...

iBurst - Nothing for Nothing

As of 1 March 07, iBurst’s products will become the most cost effective in the market with the launch of Data Bonus. Data Bonus applies to all 24-month contracts. Subscribers will receive an additional 200 megabytes of data free on iGo Lite and iGo contracts and an additional 500 megabytes of data free on all G1, G3, G6 and G9 contracts.

This is the vaseline to ease the pain of rape for those on 24 month contracts.
The rest of us on a month to month, are told by omission, tough on you - get stuffed.

I am, following the hint implicit in the above quotation, terminating my relationship with an organisation which has not placed customer relations and customer satisfaction above paying homage to Mammon.

A repeat of Vodacom's we are the "cheapest" statement?
iBurst today announced that they will launch their new Data Bonus on the first of March, and claims that this will make them: “the most cost effective in the market”. Subscribers will receive an additional 200 megabytes of data free on iGo Lite and iGo contracts and an additional 500 megabytes of data free on all G1, G3, G6 and G9 contracts.
Not much the higher up your usage goes. Actually makes the gap in pricing between the low and high usage customers more in relation to other countries. Still does nothing for me if I can't afford it in the first place. A price decrease is all we really want then customers can upgrade if they want more.
iBurst subscribers will appreciate being able to carry over their unused data as this will help them to balance their Internet usage from one month to the next. Subscribers will be able to carry over unused data up to a maximum of their monthly data allocation.
Carry over means there's no artificial limit imposed. So I guess that doesn't include the 500MB 'bonus' and the maximum carry over is just 1GB for the 1GB subscribers.

It's quite obvious that iBurst is not willing to compete but only adapt to the market pricing and STILL overcharge.
I agree with this. Telkom ups there 1MB bandwidth to 4 and everyone complains they will burn there cap quicker.

Honestly what happened to being positive when something good comes in to the picture.

Maybe all the service providers should go back and take there reductions back.

Honestly. They could give the members of the forum R 1 million each and all you would do is complain about the tax implications
4MB is useless if you only have 3GB to use. It has been said numerous times that all we want is better and cheaper services, not "value" added extras we can't do anything with. No country in the world will put up with this, it's only us and we should be "grateful" that things are changing SLOWLY. At the rate this is going the sps might as well take their reductions back as it has been pointed out we were far better off in the past with uncapped local and free local calls. Virgin will still be the cheapest starting off at 50c/MB.
