iBurst LTE plans to continue

Go Iburst!! Really hope they can get this rolled out sooner rather than later and move users to LTE to free up the spectrum for them.

@rpm: Please explain to us dumb okes what the point of this article is. I really can't find what it is about.
  1. Has the rollout started or is it about to start?
  2. No question about why the delay?
  3. No question about when the rollout is expected to be completed.
  4. No question about why the delay?
  5. If the rollout starts on 31 Dec 2012 Joe Kgamedi and iBurst didn't BS!!
Since the Netdynamix story I am expecting more from MyBB, a lot more. Please dump the (paid or unpaid) advertorials for VC and Mxit. Yesterday's article in which AKC jr's howler that Whatsapp is only available on Android and iOS went unchallenged is poor journalism, to put it mildly.
This article about iBurst's failure to use the scarce spectrum allocated to them should focus on that, not the waffle in the article.
If there's no news in an article it is not an article.
Please don't let MyBB become irrelevant - both these articles had your name and picture to it.

Why do they not rent out their spectrum to MTN or Vodacom and make a killing?

Hi Allin

All those questions were asked. We had to push really hard to get the comments we did from iBurst.

This basic problem: We ask many questions, but get absolutely no feedback. We struggled for a few weeks to get anything from iBurst. Sometimes we expect the forum members (hence you) to point out the obvious in the comments ;)

it would be nice which areas are covered (specific, and not just jhb in general) for the initial rollout, pricing etc.

RPM, seriously then why give them space and publicity when they're not willing to come to the party. I would have written something a little more scathing, seen as they've provided zero feedback and they're missed their self imposed deadline!

I agree 100% this is just free publicity for them

RPM have you asked them what their budget is? I dont think they can afford to roll out LTE right now.

They're just flooding us with info to keep our eyes off other facts...

Use it or loose it,iburst is seriously hampering telecoms progression in the SA mobile space,in fact if ICASA had any teeth they would have held iburst/sentech accountable financially if they dont use the resources effectively by a certain date.

The rest of the world already has or is starting to roll out LTE but South africa is sstuck because two greedy stupid companies are holding on to valuable spectrum?wtf is going here?!!!!!

Iburst you should be ashamed of yourselves, get the business plan in place QUICK and use that spectrum or give it away.Stop being greedy and selfish and putting AN ENTIRE COUNTRY AT A DISADVANTAGE because of your greed!

Pathetic.

@rpm: BGE, Malier and SteveO should indicate what MyBB forumites expect of you, or some of them in any case. You've proven that you have teeth (wanted to say b@lls, but in the context maybe inappropriate), so use them. To roll over like a puppy and whimper afterwards that they didn't want to answer your questions is lame. You could, and should have written something worth reading.
Likewise, AKC jr BS went unchallenged, and not even a reply on that one from you.

Lame duck reporting is a waste of time, your and ours.

Vodacom was a shareholder in WBS (iBurst) at the time, but sold that off so that they could bid for their own spectrum.

ie http://mybroadband.co.za/news/business/12597-vodacom-and-iburst-start-divorce-proceedings.html

Vodacom's shareholding was not a factor in the WiMax network. It was (and still is) iBurst's WiMax network and Vodacom was just a reseller.

In a seperate agreement WBS contracted Vodacom to build the network for WBS.

So, it looks complicated but, in reality, was a normal SP arrangement.

But you're right on not being able to bid on new spectrum if you were a shareholder in a company with a similar allocation.
