iBurst Open DC++ Hub FAQ/GUIDE

Non Iburst HUB

hey all, I hope somebody can help

I used to connected to a SA hub that had a custom DC++ client. But I cannot find it anymore. anybody know of any good SA hub for adsl users?

thanks

That hub was zahub, its now the.joint.za.net

If you google SADC++ you will find their site. The hub was still up and running a few weeks ago.

Can't connect to anyone!

Howzit

I am having a problem with connecing to anyone in the hub

I connect to the hub fine and can see all the users but cannot connect to anyone, it just times out.

I have set my connection settings to firewall with upnp and can see the ports have been opened on the firewall.(wireless router)

using DC++

any help?

Do you set your current IP in the DC++ settings?

This depends on which DC client you use, but mine can connect to the hub and see users but wont connect to anything else until I put in my current IP.

The hub auto-detects this for you when you sign in, so you can simply copy paste it from the hub sign on messages to your DC settings.

Thanks.

For some reason, even that the upnp ports were opened, it didn't want to work, i had to manually configure port forwarding(uPnP works fine with other P2P programs like bitcomet)

Anyway, working well now, about 30kB/s from one user, he must also be from DBN, you only get fast speeds from users in the same city right?

We just need to get more people connected and spread the word!

Cheers

no-one

What does it mean if you connect and there is no-one at all in the hub, no bots or nothing, i hope that the hub is down and i didn't get banned or nothin - i didn do nothin wrong!

It means your not connecting correctly and I've had the same thing occur myself on one or two occasion. Make sure you're not running any torrents in the background or otherwise saturating your connection as XP sp2 has a 10 max connection limit. Worst case restart your modem/pc and that should sort you out.

<thisisnotacunninglydisguisedbump> Oooo, hub's been really packed the past few days </thisisnotacunninglydisguisedbump>

Found that if i restarted my modem twice i usuall had connectin speeds of about 30-50k. but that could be because i was on at 2am this morning :)
but it does tend to pick up late into the night

Is the Iburst DC++ still runing? I try to conect and it stays at conected, no ppl there?something wong?

famous4life: The hub us up and running, just did a VNC back home to check...

Ekhaatvensters: Not that you are online for long enough, and then on another subnet so I can only get stuff at 2K/s.

Ja, I stayed on one whole night, but my uploads weren't going..

I think I need to get into the same IP range as you, but I tried getting a new IP about 30 times and it was never in the .228 range, always above .230 :(

I'll try get a good IP and try it out again.

Lets try again tonight then...
There was another guy from CPT on around 15:00, I tried to get into his subnet range, but now im locked out from my PC at home, either iBurst hasnt reconnected or my dynamic DNS isnt updating. OOOOOOPS...

EDIT: Okay I see, it was Anti_bunny, hes on the same tower as me, but hes also downloaded from you before I think... Ill get him back on tonight then.

Well I'm sure we can get into the same subnet if you just get out of .22x :)

Weird discovery I made a few days ago about speeds.

Turns out JHB to Durban *can* get high speeds. I was uploading at a constant 20kBs to a Durban user a few nights ago, so unless he was lying in his description it looks like JHB - Durban is even a good possibility.
