iBurst response to current ADSL pricing.

You PM'd me during the last two days and I responded. I apologize but I do not have the authority to respond or comment on unannounced products.

Hi Ronald.

I do appreciate how active you are on these forums in helping iBurst clients out like myself . My concern is with the lack of responses from the official iBurst rep and from JvZ on the current issues relating to the latest offerings in the broadband market.

Like I said before, JvZ was last seen on MyBB on 19/03/10 saying that there will be an announcment in April.
The official iBurst rep was last seen 17/03/10.

MyBB may be a small representation of the iBurst market, but it does consist of people in the IT industry that can make or break a company like iBurst in their recommendation of the company.

My business relies completely on advertising by word of mouth and if my reputation is not good with my existing clients, I will not get any new ones and I will lose my current clients.

I am not in IT but I am very tech savvy and in the beginning was raving about iBurst when I signed up. This is not the case at the moment and iBurst does not seem to care how they are perceived in the market.

Ronald, why don't you ask one of the product reps or the Marketing Manager to come and respond to us? Let's not ignore this thread exists as you work in I-Burst and you saw it, so relay the message please!

384kbps line (R152) + Voice Line (R131) + Uncapped ADSL 384 Kbps (R197 ) = R480

Yip, I'm in the same situation. Honestly, I've never seen iburst go more than 70K/s, so half the speed but uncapped for R30 more is far to tempting. I'm going to telkom today to get the gear in motion.

Take the 4Mbps uncapped at R500, that means it's about R100 per 1Mbps uncapped. Ok, so iburst need to maintain the towers, so +R150 and we should be seeing uncapped iBurst for R300 or less surely?

I don't really think iburst would be able to offer the same package as Mweb currently, the only way any company can really afford to provide uncapped adsl is if they have a very nice network setup allowing for caching of just about anything pulled from international websites, and then they need the numbers in regards to clients to be able to sustain this uncapped service. I think Mweb has the financial backing to be able to launch such a package in an effort to get the majority of the internet user market sign up with them and lets be honest anyone that's not going to take the offer needs to have his or her head checked out. Now the more clients they have the more it would become likely that clients will be viewing and downloading the same content and with the caching servers only local bandwith will be used at the end of the day with the exceptions of p2p which they will have to throttle.

If iburst continues to provide bad service they will loose more clients and it will become more expensive for them to maintain there network so uncapp will or might not be an option for them, the old packages they had I believe was a lot better and cheaper than the new ones and people will get upset when they eventually find out what has happened, I told everyone the new packages are a rip off, but back then most told me they are all happy with the new packages and there was very little complains almost like they never realized what was happening, now if you want to be able just to get the 64K throttled account from iburst you will pay almost double than what you would have to be paying mweb currently for uncapp.

I don't actually see what the problem was with the 64K throttled accounst and don't really know why you now need to pay R199 for the addon package, because first of all you can't use it for p2p it's too slow and you can't even download from those Rapidshare servers unless you have a premium account because the connection is so slow it times out before you can hit the download button. Anyway let's see what happens, I have never in my life experienced such a uproar on a service providers offering even my wife that knows nothing about ISP's or IT knows about the mweb offering so the whole country is most probably talking about it and that's exactly what they wanted to do and certain ISP's just won't be able to compete against them and will die slowly. Lets hope that mweb can sustain these offerings that would be the big test.

Going with what happened last time, theres a good chance that something like last time will happen.
We give you uncapped at R2000! (no no, your eyes are deceiving you, it's cheaper!)

To be honest, I'm pretty happy- DON'T SHOOT ME! - with my current package (Luckily, I've been with MWEB all the time, so I haven't had to deal much with iBurst's Unhelp desk people). I'm not a gamer, so I don't use that much data, and if I do, it doesn't particularly bother me having to buy a booster. BUT.... where iBurst could make me happier, if they are for one reason or another unable/unwilling to drop their data costs, would be if they increased the speed and stability of their system, because that's where my biggest complaints have always been - really crap and erratic download speeds.

If you still need Telkom's ADSL line, then it won't help much and nothing talk about here. We need alternative, like Telkom did: http://www.telkom.co.za/products_services/wimax/cost.html

And also user must have right to choose their data provider (MWeb, Afrihost, iDSL, etc). We pay you for connection only, like Telkom's ADSL, but wireless...

Let me rent the connection from iBurst. Surely R300.00 for 4096kbps is sustainable or R150.00 for the current 1024kbps.

If you can get iDSL, therefore you can get ADSL from Telkom. So who cares about iDSL, unless you live in a closed community.

It's clear to see that there's no change for iBurst wireless. I told you they would tell us to compare apples with apples.

Add the cost of dsl and landline to DSL's costs and it is still cheaper than iBurst by at least 50%.

Hmm, well that doesn't help those of us on the wireless option. If I could have gone the cable route, do you honestly think I'd still be with iBurst on wireless? Lol...! So in other words, we're stuck with a lemon until our contracts expire. *sigh*

Simply put, total cost of uncapped 384 line is about 480 (telkom and ISP) - so lets just say R500 for simplicity. I find it hard to believe that iburst can't match this offer. Create a throttled 384 on iburst for R500 and people will use it. Uncapped WIRELESS solution for R20 more than uncapped WIRED would be earth shattering.
