I stay away from Amobia after what I went through. I still have iBurst which I use along with my WA ADSL.

Not sure what iBurst future plans are with Wimax and LTE?

Just received a call from Kawuleza. They will do the site survey this year still, but I asked them if I can start with the trial next year, since I still have my amobia for this month. Going for the 4mbps capped package and adding 10GB. They said the site survey and installation is free, if you do the trial and then I will pay cash for the equipment, if I do go with them, which is R1250.

Hmmmm. So is that R1,250pm x 12 for a 4Mbps link with a 10GB cap? Also, is that symmetrical?

LoL, no.

The equipment is R1250 once off.
Then 4mbps 1GB @ R279
Then 10GB add on @ R250

If you look at the speed tests that Spyker posted, then I would say it is asymmetrical.

I did the trial on the uncapped home package, I can only assume the uplink would be better on capped as it is a 5:1 contention ratio... Whereas mine was 20:1.

Sharkie - R1250 for the equiment seems like a lot since you already have an antenna from amobia... Maybe pop me a pm with your email then I'll send you a pic of what my equipment looks like... You might not need anything new... Then you can eft me half of what you saved :p

Now, when you cancel with Amobia, they take the equipment back and refund you, which is a better deal that what Kawuleza is offering. But the cheaper BW makes up for it. :)

So, Lauren from Amobia mailed me back about the refund and said, even though is't on the contract, they don't do it any more... but that can't be legal...?

That can't be legal, unless they communicated that to their clients and they (clients) agreed.
I could be wrong though, but one can't just change the contract as they please.

Well I'm not sure shark... Does sound like a load of ?!+#))+"@.

But again, if they aren't going to, let me know what ur antenna looks like and how the hardware is set up and I'll let you know if it is the same as kawuleza.

I have a feeling it will probably work... Maybe get them to come out and look for you and if it is the same, all they would have to do is change the direction of the antenna.

But, yes, I will ask them for the username and password to the CPE and then get more info from there. If I can use it for Kawuzela, it would be a bonus.

That looks very similar to my setup... So I wouldn't be surprised if it works when they re direct you to their tower... Just hope you can connect with a decent signal.
