How do you justify 45 off 40?

How do you justify leaving your best bowler stranded to bowl the last over when the scores are tied?

How do you justify not having a slip in early on when the ball is going across the batsman?

How do you justify bowling short and wide at a guy who has a known weakness against bodyline?

How do you justify giving Duminy an extra over when we only needed 2 from him?

How do you justify... ag, forget it. Duminy did ok, the others should have batted around him. Why didn't AB raise his game when it mattered, yet again?

Why do we have to justify it
He got 45 runs on the board, QdK only got 6 and AB 10 yet collectively the team posted 172 which was defend-able....had we not bowled that cr@p!

In my opinion what cost us was, too many dot balls when we batted and those wides we bowled.
Also faf's decision to open the bowling with JP was distinctly average.

JP was probably close to being our player of the tournament... Between JP, Tahir and Steyn...

Yep. The buck stops with Faf and some really poor bowling. Those 9 wides, together with his poor captaincy, decided the game.

No blame from me. The boys played well. But India played better. That's sport. It was great. Love this game.

We were the underdogs. We did well to get there. Wish the endless carping and criticism would stop. Let's delight in the sport, which is so much bigger than little partisanships.

/runs for cover

That's it. We not actually a very good T20 team. We been pretty below par this tournament too, basically scraping through by the skins our a$$Es. Semis is a bit above par considering, for this lot...

I agree there are various factors to blame. I had a problem with Duminy's innings. And he was not out!

1/3 of the game to silly Duminy , and all he could manage was a paltry 40!

India were the better team.
Domingo looks seriously out of depth at International level. We need to find another coach.

Why did Duminy open the innings again? Everytime he has opened the innings in the tournament he has gone for runs.

Steyn should have opened trying to get wickets early and peg them back. They got of to a great start and we never recovered

From CricInfo:
"I thought we had batted excellently," says Faf du Plessis. "It was a very good score against a good attack on this wicket. Ash bowled really well. Credit to our batters to put up a good total. Runs on the board in the semi-final is what you ask for. The bad thing is, MS and his team know how to chase. They have done it many times. They pace their innings really well. Virat played a great innings. You have to credit. I thought we could have been better with the ball. The extras we conceded. If you have to win the World Cup, you have to get those one per-centers right. Unfortunately tonight, you can expect about five wides under pressure, but nine is too much. An up-and-down campaign for us. Our guys fought brilliantly, but India deserve to be in the final."

Oh and ...I don't know how to captain :whistling:

No Slab. It is down to captaincy in this one. Even though Parnell and Steyn went for 11 and 11.5 respectively, Faf was horrible as captain.

Our problem is bad tactics. You should bat your best batsman first so they have time to have the biggest impact in the game. AB should never have to come in after JP or Faf. We should try and score as quick as possible from the start and not leave it for overs 13 an after. We were 15 runs short against a side like India.

Bowling: How can you open.with JP and not have Dale Steyn bowl his first two? What is the use of leaving him 3 at the tail end of the innings if the rest of your bowlers already thrown it away. This tactic is negative and you are already assuming the game will go down to the last three overs. Why not bowl your best bowler more in the beginning and maybe the game wont even reach those last overs?
