IEC opens up website

lol beat me to it again :p Chris has forwarded to Helen, wonder how soon itll take to put a better looking one up.

Nah honestly as one of the legal minds in the 133T Project said "... the government have ticked that off their list and aren’t going to put it back on their ‘to do list’ "

So we might just have to take a hit with the current IEC site. But from now on the govt whenever they need something done can speak to the leaders in the industry and not just someones cousin who studied FrontPpage from a correspondence course.

The interface doesn't bother me (although it did make me chunder a bit) - its the potentially insecure database access. At work, we have to be so careful for outward-facing websites (websites that are open to anyone, not intranet websites), because of sql injection attacks etc. Give that I have managed to break a few pages already by not doing anything illegal, i am willing to bet that it wouldn't be difficult to directly access whatever database they are using. You are able to check whether you are registered, so i presume they have a copy of the voter-roll. Doesn't that count as sensitive information? I have registed to vote, so my information will be there, and I don't want anyone with access to an online 'how to hack' tutorial to have access to it.

Your right, so close to elections theres not a chance they will revisit.
But I think you and the others have made it pretty clear to everyone that they stuffed up, good work on the new design as well!

Thanks Surv0 :D yeah man now they have no excuse to put up some other crap site for R300k. :-/

@ hyperian: yeah that is quite scary esp since the voters roll has your name, email, cell, physical address etc...can any1 say spam?

this is so ****'ng classic! 3mil on this piece of crap... i wonder if the got a discount on the spinning soccer balls?!!!! LOL

oh wow my post got removed again! That is 3 and counting now I think I'm going to take a shot this time to prove that this is happening, I don't even understand why my last posts were removed. I mean if there were a reason given and it were legitimate I'd be fine with it, but nothing. There we go took a shot, now it doesn't matter whether it is removed or not, hey that rhymes.

So, does anyone know who exactly the IEC have paid R291 000 south african ronts to for that 'website'?

Need to avoid them like the plague!

some 1 with a close connection to the tender process im sure. :-/

we have a name, and some of his 'other sites' which are all fail.

anyway, thanks for the support guys. please pass this news link on to anyone you know. share it on fb / forums / and send to any1 in the media that you know.

:D

The redistribution of wealth via BS projects like this is going along just swimmingly it seems.

The person who authorized this expenditure on this site should be held to account and fired for negligence.
What standards did this individual use/employ when commissioning this project?
How on earth did they get to a figure of R3m for the project as a whole????
Who else tendered for this, was there even a tender process or did they just accept one quote?
How on earth did they pay almost R300 000 for that phase one?

Should of tossed it in the bin then and there. 300 000 unbelievable, honestly.

hmmm...

This pcda.co.za guys blurb on his front page is cut and paste directly from http://www.sane.ca/services/software.html

His email address uses the SouthAfrica2010.co.za domain for whatever reason... And all the "technology" links on his page are dead.

WTF is going on?

(so he makes money from all the google ads on the page when people follow the dept website's link to 2010 :-/
