Like it or not, children need discipline in order to learn. Everyone would love to believe that their little angel will exhibit perfect behaviour without being taught about actions and consequences, but unfortunately that isnt the case. Teachers are supposed to facilitate learning in the classroom and instil discipline, both so that the children can learn self discipline but also so that classroom disruptions can be minimized.

Unfortunately, teachers are no longer able to do this in the UK. They arent allowed to even say no to a child. The child is always right, can never fail, or be expelled (only asked to leave, and they can refuse). They cant discipline at all.

This has nothing to do with skills, it has everything to do with liberal idiocy. In fact, I wont even say that corporal punishment is needed in the classroom. It probably isnt. But discipline is, and the UK has taken that way from teachers, leaving them with a classful of students who do their best to drive their teachers crazy, and being unable to do anything about it.

Do you you guys get hard when you imagine yourselves beating children? I'm trying to understand the appeal here.

Anyone so much as looks at my kid in a way I don't like, I sure until he's begging for crumbs in the gutter. Just sayin'.

You know, it's strange. I managed to grow up and get a law degree without ever being beaten like some dumb mule whenever I angered my masters.

If you want a submissive little slave you can beat when it displeases you, I suggest you adopt a dog from the SPCA and train it to lick peanut butter off your crotch. You do not deserve children, no child deserves you as a parent, and humanity does not deserve your defective genes, if you believe that it is appropriate to beat intelligent beings into bloody submission when they offend your mighty ego.

Imagine going to school every day and the precious brats have only one goal which is to cause as much k^k as possible, to give you the finger knowing the nanny state is on their side.

This has nothing to do with feeding an ego - and from the report there is no way these yobs can be called even remotely intelligent.

The British public education system is a POS, there's no denying it, but there's no need to resort to violence.

It makes me wonder why someone becomes a teacher. Do they do it because they like to teach, or because they like to be in a position of power over people weaker than themselves?

Hey, take a ****ing chill pill. Good on your folks but unfortunately the majority of parents don't have a clue how to discipline their kids without an ultimate threat of violence towards ass cheeks.
As a result we have a generation of little bastards with all the privileges of being an adult and none of the reponsibillity. If you have a proven alternative to the occassional spanking please do share.
Incidentally, attaining a law degree is hardly the pinacle of human perfection. You could a complete ******* for all we know.

Are you deliberately misreading or being obtuse? **Discipline**, **boundaries**, **accountability**. To enforce discipline there is a gradual escalation. You don’t beat-up a child without trying other things first. Corporal punishment is a last resort.
