Hahahaha. I complained about the exact same thing and I got crapped on for not calling them and whatever. In August I received an invoice for September even though I told them it was only for August (they've done this about 6 times) and they apologized and reversed the transaction. But now I login to my account and it says I have 10gb left? They seriously can't get their **** together!!!

Oh and by the way, I went back and checked all the months I was charged for but never used. They owed me over R300 worth of accounts. I'm looking for a new ISP too. Anyone offer cheap 10gb local IS? I think it's time to move to OpenWeb.

All the other ISP will do the same thing gdiza.

You get charged when you acquire the right to use the service...whether you make use of it doesn't matter.

afaik WA doesn't have a "no monthly sub, R70/gig" service. Only contract, month to month and prepaid.
 
Prepaid

Web Africa has prepaid account. You pay for 1GB that never expires. When you`ve used all of it, you buy another gig. Quick and simple.

Even beter still, if you enable automatic top-ups, you don't even have to manually purchase the bandwidth.

Exactly. The prepaid service is there for exactly that reason, if you use it, you pay for it, if you don't, the data rolls over.

And I just went to have a look at the checkout page.
It clearly says R70 monthly on the month-to-month account and says R70 per GB on the prepaid account.

Also, please quote me the clause anywhere on their site that you won't get billed if you don't use data on a month to month account? For that matter, where they ONLY bill you if you use data.

If you have, please take a look at that, as you will see, the data you had been charged for is data you had made use of.

You had the ADSL 1gb Shaped package with us (which is a monthly package). Our ADSL Prepaid package is the one where we do not charge you a monthly fee. The one you have/had is the monthly 1gb account for which we charge R70 monthly and if you no longer require this service, cancelation is required so we can stop the billing for the specific account.

The R140 you mention, as per my conversation with you, was for 2gb additional prepaid bandwidth you had purchased, and used (as per the excel usage breakdown I sent you).

As with all the previous months' where we have credited or refunded you for unused months' of data, in this case, I would have done the same, had the bandwidth not be used. Unfortunately in this case, it had been.

Please accept our humble apologies for any inconvenience caused to you. I have done my utmost to try assist and still would had it been an overcharge or incorrect billing on our end.

Sounds like you sorted his issue out and it makes sense, but can you explain why you guys keep on screwing up my things?? :(

Well you can get 1GB int + 9 GB local (or 10GB local, however you use it!) for R70 from SAGateway :)

Looks like an option. Have you used them?

You've contact me before (and earlier today). I've had numerous problems with you guys in terms of not canceling my accounts but all I get is a sorry.
 
i actually think you are very lucky.. most places wouild never just reverse it cause you never used it ?

if you take month to month.. you get billed regardless unless you cancelled it and still got billed.

Valid points, but you did subscribe to a monthly service, and hence have to cancel said service if you don't intend to use it for a specific month ;)

Quite frankly ... on your site it is clearly stated eg. with the monthly shaped package that there is "No cancellation notice period". This problem has popped up quite a few times on this forum with people being billed for a new month after "canceling" on the last day of the month - as allowed according to the WA website. Mind changing this to note the "10 day" notice to avoid confusion in future?

and a little bit scared for WebAfrica to automatically bill me on my credit

xxx@wadsl (I logged in to check and used about 24kb, am I going to be
charged now??) and [email protected] say I have bandwidth left.

Secondly, I decided to check all my orders from WebAfrica and have noticed I
have been charged for accounts I have been asked to be canceled at the end
of the month. [email protected]l I was charged for May, June, and July but
did not use any bandwidth. [email protected] I was charged for December 2007
and never used any bandwidth.

[email protected] has been canceled, however the fee for Sep 08 has not yet been deducted from the credit card, therefor we have reversed the fee but there is no refund that needs to be done. Again, our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

This is only a handful of times I've been charged for things I've clearly mentioned I only want for one month. There are numerous other emails I have. I'm going to buy an account from WebAfrica and take a screenshot of the clearly ticked "one month" or whatever it says, and I will prove to them they screw up all the time!

Correct. Mariet gave me a free local account. For that I'll give them a go next time I need a local account, but am almost certain the same thing is going to happen :(
