Indeed, almost R9k per year now and for what? I couldn't answer this, so I asked the SU, who also couldn't answer. Few minutes later I was diagnosed with DSTVlessness (kudos to their very quick and helpful call center, I'll give them that).

Just did the same earlier this month - well dropped to the R29 package which is basically just SABC. Gone the whole unotelly/netflix/bbc iplayer route, all streamed to my TV's with Chromecast at a fraction of the cost. I do miss SuperSport though, but gf loves all the movie choices! Can even stream Netflix and play BF4 whilst chatting on TS - no issues!

Just unplugged the DSTV decoders as well, bound to save a few more Rands from that...

Although there is DSTV in my household I don't use it anymore, Hulu+ BBC iPlayer et al keep me incredibly satisfied!

Last time I saw it was only around R500... Are they nuts? What do they offer that makes it worth almost R1,000pm?

There are medical aid schemes that are cheaper than that

In the 21st century we stream everything.

Hulu+ is more for latest episodes as these don't appear on Netflix for a while.

Then you have to wait every week for episodes when on Netflix you can watch the whole season all at once.
