Maybe try activating intl. roaming to send the SMS and cancel it again. The SMS costed me R0,68 to send an international SMS.

I ported to TM from Vodacom more than 5 years ago and apple has activated iMessage successfully countless times since then on that number.I called telkom Mobile yesterday. They took time to consult as I waited holding the line. At the end they came up with a very intelligent solution. Since on their side everything looks OK, they said, I should call Apple and tell that I have changed my number or Network. I think that they are not allowed to say that they don't know. They can only suggest a solution that will inform that they don't know what they are talking about.
There are some free sms, 20 items, that come up when I recharge. I want them to expire and see whether they are the ones causing the problem.

Sure, it didn’t.It won’t work. I’ve tried it.
i have tried everything under the sun here too with trying to get imessage to activate on the telkom network. i read this whole thread and everything mentioned here i have done. like cool_guy1989, i too have a freeme open-end contract and the option to load airtime have been replaced by minutes; the out-of-bundle spend limit doesn't seem to work with the out-of-contract fees either so why was airtime changed to minutes i do not know.Got hold of Telkom, gave them the link to this thread. The person who assisted me said they would escalate it to their team leader and then they ended the chat. Highly doubt I'm going to get any success in this. I just wish people we spoke to were knowledgeable.
Okay, I've sent the thread link to one of my go to's at Telkom, let's see if he can provide any assistance...Got hold of Telkom, gave them the link to this thread. Pepaid? Mmmmm, that's odd cause on prepaid you don't have the same challenges adding airtime as the contracted guys do?Mine is prepaid, still it won't activate. The good thing with prepaid is the freedom to move elsewhere if the current sp doesn't listen.
Now that is very interesting indeed... Let’s hope sand_man’s Telkom guy can put this one to bed (no pun intended). If I do find myself near a Telkom Store within the next few days, I will be sure to escalate the matter and show them this thread as well.Yes, it's prepaid. It doesn't show "waiting for activation". It's just imessages activation error error. I have tested CelC and MTN and they just activate on the same phone.
My go to is a bit of a no show... Telkom after all, so not all that surprising... anyhooooo, good luck lads...Now that is very interesting indeed... Sorry to say but that's going to be a waste of time. Especially if the queues are anything like the one at our local mall. Thanks for the attempt, sand_man.
I am still to visit a Telkom branch, hopefully, this Saturday.
I agree... it is a sad-sad situation. But alas, I have to try. Wish me luck.Sorry to say but that's going to be a waste of time. Especially if the queues are anything like the one at our local mall.
