Immigrating to the UK

AFAIK documents will need to be originals. You can't print them off yourself.
And that's the problem. Nobody's sending physical copies of anything with a proof of address on it anymore - at least, not anything that's discernably different from something printed at a print shop. So what in the heck am I supposed to provide?

Indeed! It's just not listed as one of the accepted forms of proof of address, so I worry that it's not "official" enough especially since I can just print it myself.

I guess this means I should be able to print a tax return with my address on it and it should be valid. I suppose I'm just worried that anything that I can print myself won't "count" and it's gonna be a real PITA if I land up having to courier further proof of residence.

I would try a bank statement and the tax printout, maybe throw in the isp invoice / statement too, heck get an affidavit that you live at xyz with a police stamp on it too. I did my first one in April, I sent them a gas/elec bill (original) and a statement from the bank with address on it (printed out not original) and that was fine.

HSBC and a couple others weren't interested but Lloyds set me up after I was here for 3 weeks I think. That landlord was also being very sketch, I lucked out with a landlord I'll be honest ... rent increases are only £25 a year he's pretty on the ball with repairs and such

Hardly useful information, as they’re in SA still.

There was a post from the guy who moans in the mybb uk thread moaning about how he struggled to get a bank account for 3 months early this AM. Why the fsck would I reply what I did for fun.

Don't care about your doubt 🙄

Had the exact same **** when I got here 10 years ago. Last stop on my way back to the office, dejected after trying every high street bank, was Lloyd’s. All they needed was my passport and I had an account the same day. Been with them ever since.

Just paid for the wife's spouse visa application.
It was more expensive that I had planned for.
The last time I did the calculation it came to £4500 for the visa + surcharge, and then an extra £500 for the Priority Service.
Well it came to £5270 (R127,500). Which wiped out everything I had saved. So we are waiting till the 24th then I am going to book her an appointment and pay for the Priority service (R12,500) and (if necessary) a Premium lounge appointment (R1650) to get an appointment that suits her schedule.

All in this visa is going to have cost me at least R140, 000.
I honestly had a mild case of the shakes after I paid all that money just by clicking the Google Pay link.

I think i used printed out bank statement, SARS tax return and medical aid statement, they only asked for 1 but figured 3 would work better. They didn’t say anything about it being printed statements.
