Immigrating to the UK

Like I said, they'll contact you for documentation if they need more.

I guess it’s different to the visitor visas. If you get the documentation wrong in anyway; even just missing a document - they just refuse the visa and you have to apply again. No room to appeal.

So again not my experience.

They contacted my wife for more docs as they weren't satisfied with what she submitted for finances.

I did the visitors visa for my GF when she was coming over in July this year. I submitted so much documentation. My lease, a letter from my landlord, my bank statement, my employment letter, my passport, my NI number, and anything else I could think of. Basically drowned the Home Office in paperwork.
They approved her without hassle.

It’s been my experience and that of others I know of. If something was missed they have just refused it there and then and not bothered to ask.

Yeah I did that the first time they refused me in 2015.

Now I have done it so many times I apply with minimal paper work.

I need to open a new bank account as I'm maxing out what I'm insured for at Monzo. Any recommendations?

Nationwide Current account if you want a paid for account with lots of extras.

If you want a more grown up version of Monzo in another digital bank, Starling.

Personally I’ve been quite happy with a Halifax account, no problems in ten years and all customer service is in-country.

I opened a Revolut account a few days ago.

Took about five minutes, virtual debit card available immediately and actual debit card arrived about three days later. Too much easy.

Not sure if it would suit your needs though.

Savings I assume?
This is what Snoop is recommending to me

Revolut isn't a bank and isn't protected by the FSCS, just FYI.

Yep, savings. It's a deposit for a house and not an entirely insignificant amount, so I don't want any drama with it.

Wife has a Halifax account. She’s floated the idea of adding me to it so we have a joint account. I’m not sure about that.

Spent a few days being proper tourists in London, it was eye watering expensive but damn awesome, we loved it. Beautiful city with loads to do...

The wife and I love London. We go there as often as we can.

Went to see The Lion King in theater. What an experience. High recommend.

Yeah, London is an experience.
I prefer to live in the country and commute into London. To me thats the best of both worlds.

Absolutely. That’s my plan to when we move. Though I work from home; I’ll probably go up to London once a month to see people. On the train up.

Talking of moving. My wife now has a maximum stay of just over 4 months in the county.

So.. our timeline has moved up. Now it’s end of March. And not end of April.
