The Democratic Alliance is expected to make an "important announcement" on Sunday following a federal executive meeting held in Johannesburg.

This comes a month before the DA is expected to hold its federal congress in Port Elizabeth.

According to a report members of the executive were summoned from across the country to attend a meeting at short-notice.

However, the agenda was kept secret from many of them, Sunday Times reported.

The party's announcement was expected to be made at 11:30.

Voting for a new leader. Would it be De Lille or some white dude. Hopefully not a white dude.

What's wrong with a white dude?
DA needs to gain inroads into other areas. A white dude with a privileged background living in a mansion will make it sounds more like a white party. Also the white leaders of the DA are all relatively unknown, staying behind the scenes and people, especially poor ones, are less likely to vote for a privileged unknown who stayed behind the scenes.

The sexy dude from Gauteng? Mmusi.
But how hard will the eff and anc shout window dressing.

You can't win with the retards. Time to stop trying.

As an avowed non-racialist I'd be deeply disappointed if the DA chose a leader based on her/his colour so that it can make "inroads" among the electorate. I wouldn't like a DA that has support from people because of the leader's race. This is what we're trying to get away from.

I can only think it's between Mmusi Maimane & De Lille. It would be suicide to vote for an unknown white man

I agree with you but it is the reality in the DA currently that the white possible leaders have been intentionally out of the limelight because of politics. If one white man tries to make a power move now it would be opportunistic and a bad move for the DA.

I have nothing against a white man being the leader of the DA but that said if the DA wants a white leader he then has to be visible in the poor communities and get his hands dirty from the get go, not only later when it suits his political ambitions.

I understand all this, and agree.

The question is: retain political and policy integrity, or sacrifice that to go for power.

I'd recommend the former.

Political integrity is an oxymoron. Power corrupts. That's why above intelligence, competence & ambition I will always support the least corrupt politician. The least corrupt will make themselves visible as they have no past or deals being afraid of being made public. Currently there are no white DA leader that have done so, that is why I, as a white male will support either Maimane or De Lille.

Breaking news: Nicholas Farrell has been announced as the new DA leader

thinking must be something bigger to warrant a stop the press approach...pls gods not another Mamphela Ramphele , gut feeling move on Helen's side...Fed Exec still meeting? now, no one is sure when the press brief is going to be...
I was kidding. Must be a leadership issue or a disciplinary case.
