Important DA announcement expected

Western Cape declares independence.

Democratic Alliance leader, Helen Zille, on Sunday declared the Western Cape an independent country with Cape Town as it's capital.
"People are demanding change, change is what they'll get" she said on the steps of the city hall whilst addressing an enthusiastic crowd earlier in the day.
Many Cape Town residents living near the sea have already heard the foghorns of ships sounding in celebration of the news.

Very brave move from Helen... now comes the question of who she will put her weight behind for the election in may

Now she can lobby freely for her chosen successor IMO. Things are looking up for Mmusi Maimane I think, however Lindiwe will probably come back, if she isn't back already.

Wise... Federal congress is only a few weeks away so the successor battle will be short and short! On 10 May 2015 there will be a new leader.

My vote is for mmusi on this one. He appeals to the younger generation of voters, the ones who have the highest voter apathy. A fresh face in DA leadership like mmusis will show transformation.

Well, she just killed my lobbying guess, well at least officially. I'm not buying it, there is no way she wont get involved
