I have a 4GB Sahara flash disk and when I put it in the USB, unber My Compuer a drive "F:" appears but when I click on it it says: "The disk drive in F is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"

No I don't want to format, anyway I try on a few PCs and same story. So eventually I say ok rather format so I can just get on with using the thing (Even though I lose my data) so I say "Yes" but then in the Windows Format thing it has "Unknown capacity" for capacity with no options in the drop down.

In short, it doesn't want to format.

I searched and found TestDisk and PhotoRec, with the latter I did manage to recover some of the files off the flash but I cannot get the flash to work again.

If anyone can just give me a name of some software or just point me in the correct direction to sort this out I would greatly appreciate it :)

Are you sure its not formatted as an "Apple Partition" map for any reason whatsoever?

If so, you'd have to put it into Mac, go to the Drive Tool and change the partition map back to GUID..

Happened to my 4GB when i used it to hack my Apple TV, then realised i had to change the partition map back to GUID and voila :) Was giving me the same error as you mentioned in Windows

HP Flash Formatter has sorted me out a few times

Cool, thanks people! I'm downloading the HP flash formatter now and will report back :)

EDIT: Wow, thank you all! It worked :D:D
