Good Day Gents

I need some advise please. I am looking for a walk in shop in Centurion/Pretoria area where I can get a 16000 - 20000mAH power bank. Leaving for Europe in less than a week and would like to get one.

Also anyone have experience with more expensive kind? Are they worth it over the cheap Chinese ones?

Cheers

Have you tried Due South ? They have some nice ones

The better quality ones simply have a longer lifespan and energy rating (won't damage your device).

Other than that, obviously go for the biggest mAH you can afford, the bigger the more you can recharge from it.

What I found on using Power Banks is that it charges your device fairly quick but that charge on the device does not last as long as what a slow charge offers.

Anyway, a Power bank is a must have in my opinion.

Get the ADATA one from Takealot or Esquire. Excellent value for money.

Phone - any one will work. iPad the 2000mA works.
I have two smaller ones only for phone, and one larger for iPad.
(All gifts from suppliers)

If you are flying Emirates to the EU can charge on the plane - and in Dubai, Standard bank card gets you into Marhaba lounge with charge facilities and WiFi.

Mine has a 1A and a 2A port. Used to use the 1A only until I broke it. Using the 2A seems to charge faster without much 'quality' of charge compromise. May be because my phone is designed to take a 2A charge though..

Keep in mind the powerbank takes AGES to charge: 18k mAh is 6x the capacity of my phone, so for quick top ups I'll charge the phone rather than the charger. Charger is done overnight, not on the go.

The cable also makes a difference...
As per CamiKaze- they're a must have these days.

Don't buy the Chinese fake ones. There is few fake 20000mah ones going around.

Only buy the ROMOSS one's ,no issues with them!

takealot sells the ROMOSS one's.

I have a 10400mAh Mi Power bank. Was planning on doing a short writeup about it today.

I believe Romoss is made in China ;)

I have 3 Powerbanks, Romoss, Dausen and ADATA. All 3 perform the same and charge my phone in the same time. The only differentiating factor is the first 2 have Samsung Cells and the 3rd an "unknown" Cell. From personal experience I've known Samsung batteries to be weaker than those coming from Chinese manufacturers like Huawei.

I have a 5200mah powerstick that I bought at Cape Union Mart - works really well. And its easy to carry around.

I would like to see efficiency stats on these power banks as a 20,000mah powerbank means nothing if it is 30% efficient. I have 2 12,000mah cheap powerbanks (paid R100 for both on BidOrBuy) that can charge my G2 about 1.5 times from flat. Roughly calculated, that would make them 50% efficient at best.

It depends on the phone you have, not a power bank.
It is typical behaviour of lithium batteries. If not compensated by the charging circuit (which is inside your phone), faster charging will result only in the partial charge and false charge indication.

Thanks for all the reply's guys. I ordered a Romoss 20800mAH from takealot but just after the order went through the item went from in stock to 5-7 days ETA so it will not be here in time. Has anyone seen the Romoss ones instore?
