Inside Steve Jobs' brain

Talking of which what software version did your iPad ship with?

4.3 ... took it to the iStore to get 5 - and downloaded 5.0.1 a little later.

Though someone at work that got hers about 2 weeks back got iOS5 from the box

Would have been sweet to have jail broken it on 4.3.3...

Dolby, I agree with you man
I personally hate iTunes, I hate Mac's as the OS is useless to me, and I think the hardware sucks for the price you pay
I also think it sucks that an iPhone doesn't act like a USB drive

But Still, it doesn't make steve jobs a bad guy....
I didn't like the Microsoft Zune very much, but that didn't make me call Bill Gates an Idiot or a Loser.... I just didn't buy one.

- Steve revolutionized the way the world consumes music (iPod).
- Steve revolutionized the way the world uses mobile phones (iPhone).
- Steve revolutionized the way the world consumes media (iPad).
- Steve revolutionized the way the world downloads Apps (AppStore).

In fact Steve not only influenced Apple products, but influenced all the competitors products too....
All you haters can thank Steve for your Androids, Samsungs, Tablets and App Stores, because he popularized it.

He did?

I must've missed that memo.

Let me fill you in Rip van Winkle.

How popular where mp3 players before the iPod? It was a geeky thing, not commonly used. The iPod made it a "must have" item.

With all its shortcomings the iPhone and ios did revolutionise the smart phone industry. Every smart phone now has an app store of some kind, and the market for mobile applications has exploded.

Sure.

If you think so.

EDIT: I quite enjoy listening to music on my Sony Walkman.

Yea, audo tapes = CUTTING EDGE TECH MAN. Who needs all this digital crap anyway.

My sony ericsson walkman phone played mp3s just fine, had more comfortable earphones, and better sound quality.
There have been mp3 players before ipod, only reason ipod became popular was because of the white earphones.

And apple didn't revolutionise mp3s, your itunes converts it to its own crappy format. What steve did achieve thou was legalising music downloads on a large worldwide scale.

Yes. Thats why I said "consume"
He got all the recording giants to sell each track for 99c.....something which has never been done before that.

iTunes might not be big in SA, but for the rest of the world it is.

Yeah, and the Sony portable CD player (Discman ?) was really popular.

Where Sony really screwed it up was when they bought a record company, and then refused to implement MP3 on their brilliant Sony Minidisc Player.

Remember, this was when you could buy a house for the cost of a 4MB flash card.

They handed the music player market to Apple on a plate.

It was not Apple brilliance, but Sony stupidity.

This was when Apple was on the ropes, busy going bankrupt.

Eish -so emotional about something you have no control or influence over....and nary a comment on the fact that Leander Kahney’s “Inside Steve’s brain" was published in April 2008 - talk about an old review!
