Installing Telkom FTTH through WebAfrica

Also noticing a trend here...

Yep, Jody said he'd keep me updated but they don't really give you updates, keep escalating and submitting tickets. I guess I was somewhat lucky in my regard, Once Telkom phones for an installation date you're all set from there.

12 weeks after placing an order with WebAfrica, I still have no ETA or even an order number. I've tried calling them and emailing several times but they just don't get back to me.

Since I was getting fed-up with WebAfrica's complete lack of communication, I decided to place an order with Axxess on 13 September. I was just informed by Axxess that the ETA is 17 October (5 weeks after ordering). This is for the exact same address as the WebAfrica order.

WebAfrica can take my fibre order and stuff it.

Telkom/Openserve have a 90 day holding period. Once you over that, it gets "cancelled" on their system.

That will save me the trouble of getting WA to cancel the order.

I'm not too sure what WA will do. They will probably follow up and resubmit a order form to telkom again. Best to voice your complaint and cancel with WA.

I highly doubt they will, but I'll still notify them.

I would like to have Fiber (I don't mind which provider). I just need more than 20mbit and low latency.

Please msg me ASAP . (Bellville Area)

Also been waiting around 10 weeks I'd say. No luck yet..

Well yesterday I had a rant at WebAfrica, just to find out they have been waiting 3 weeks to tell me Telkom needs GPS co-ordinates. Highly unimpressed with the service received from them.

Spoke to ISPAfrika regarding moving, the only issue is you need to cancel the current order and seeing as how WA works that might add another 6+ weeks before I can order again

I got another reply from Webafrica.l, Telkom told them it's unfeasible to install by me, but Telkom gave no reason why, so Webafrica trying to find out. I don't see how, as I physically saw then laying the cables right next to my complex, Telkom box is even right by my complex gate

Does WA have limits on their UAP/FUP or is their offering really uncapped/unshaped?

To the guys that have the router already and are up and running;

How does it work as there is no modem to put in your details for it to "dial in" as there is no phone line

Can you use an ADSL account on the line as others have mentioned and how does this work?

Thanks

Well 4 weeks later telkom phoned me today to confirm my address, so there is movement in the order at least. WebAfrica still can't provide me with a Reference Number though...
