I haven't seen that term in a while but the bootable installation should have a Live option. Like I said though, can't really say for an SD card as I am not sure if one is able to boot from SD.

Haven't tried on SD card but I have booted from USB only to install onto another USB. Set laptop to boot from USB as first boot device then it automatically boots into Linux once a USB is inserted and you reboot or power on.
Had it running like that for years and it worked on multiple systems. Even installed Icewind Dale 2 on Linux with the widescreen patch and played off the USB.
