Installing Windows 7 - Which Drive?

I currently have 3 internal hard drives and one external.

I'm in the process of backing up all the things I need on my external drive so I can re-install Windows.
These are the three other drives:

- Seagate 120GB ST3120827AS

- Seagate 160GB ST3160811AS

- Western Digital 320GB WD3200AAKS

Now I don't think I need all three as i now have an external hard drive for all my media (music, videos, pictures etc.) and I will use one internal for my Windows install and one for my Games and Software. <--- Is this a good idea???

So which one should I install Windows on and which one should I use for my Game Installs and Software?

Your help is much appreciated.
 
Pooky i would use the 320gb for windows and install games and apps on the windows drive. Store everything else on another drive. Not much point installing games and what not on another drive.

Install the OS on the fastest drive (presumably the 320 but I did not check); use the next fastest for games and apps.

So should I just have the 320gb and my external? And get rid of the other two? Or what should I do with them?
 
Pooks it depends man, if you are going to store your work/play files on a usb drive i do not get it. It will be slow.

Why not have the windows drive, plus one for your work/play files and the usb for back should the work/play hdd die? I would suggest storing your work/play items on your windows drive.
 
I normally use a 160GB 7200 RPM drive for OS like a WD black then use the other for docs, music, movies etc. I would use the 160GB for OS and the 320 for the other stuff. Get rid of the 120.

I'm going to be storing my music and video's and random files I need to backup like install files etc. on my new 1tb external.

Then I wanted to know which drive I should use for Windows...

The 320GB wd has a 16mb cache and the others have an 8mb cache so should I use the 320gb for the OS and playing games and running software off?
 
And should I partition it or just use it straight?

Then what shall I use the other two internal drives for?
 
Fastest Drive for windows, second fastest drive for games other drives to store things.

Running both the game and windows on the same drive slows things down unless the second drive is drastically slower than the first drive.
