Interleaved(your thoughts)

Nah not that modem. That I don't think is an adsl modem.

I'll try and get the model number or a pic.

You CAN actually set your own SNR target on a modified modem or by using telnet. This is after 7 hours stable: http://postimg.org/image/i4yzb8jd9/
This is the SNR target settings: http://postimg.org/image/gvbq9et5z/
The modem is a netgear DGND3700v1 with transmission firmware: http://www.richud.com/wiki/DGND3700_V1_Transmission_Firmware

The DSMS system will kick in and "fix"you line unless you had Telkom change your profile.

@Telkom rep managed to move me back to fast path but they say that it won't be a permanent fix and the DSMS system could change it back at any time..... Sigh. That and my SNR took a serious dive from 11dB to 6dB for no reason and the tech that came out just snubbed me when I tried talking to him saying he knows his job so I should not tell him how to do it. He left after "fixing"the line and the stats are worse than they were before he started. Guess he does not know his job.....

^ Exactly the same issue here, SNR decreased so I sorted myself out. Flashed the modem firmware and set it correctly. Telkom rep set me to "manual" port. Been stable @ 2.2db (around about) since 25 Dec. Upload about 1.2mbps (was 0.85 before) and 17.35 down (was 17.25mbps before). :)

My line went back onto interleaved and 2mb below its usual sync speed last night, this after Charl helped me switch it back to fast path for the 3rd time in months, just a few weeks ago. What's the point manually requesting fast path if they keep switching it back to ****terleaved all the time ? ffs... What good is DSL if latency is officially going to be permanently through the roof now? It's not like the speeds are any great to begin with. LTE is looking more and more attractive by the day. Telkom copper division are shooting themselves in the foot big time with this ASSIA ass crap. We're already planning to to move our office lines to Neotel fibre due to the problems it's causing us

It's crazy how Telkom is allowing this system to drive customers away. I had the same fight with it for about 3 weeks until my account waa reset. Am expecting the issue to arise again in the near future though. Why we can't have an option to be taken off it is simply ridicoulous. Am moving to fibre in a coupla months too, enough of this nonsense.

I'll also be cancelling my Telkom ADSL account. Busy looking for alternatives at the moment. I'm done with Telkom ADSL.

So it seems this is a mass thing, I got dropped from 20mbps with 14 down snr to 18mbps 6 snr overnight, considering my router has a "Interleaver Depth" stat I am assuming same thing.

Interleaved improves my line???.... :erm: Get 20mbps on interleaved and only 18 on fastpath....

Definately depends person to person, I got switched over onto VDSL (Interleaved) by TelkomZA and am syncing at 22mbit now.

Hi, I have a question. In December I upgraded from a 4meg line to a 10 meg line with telkom. Since then I am also on this interleaved crap.
I sync at 4 megs with my telkom account. However as soon as I switch to my VOX account I sync at about 8.5meg.

Can someone explain the huge difference in speeds between the 2 ISP's using the same line?

Sync or speed ? Sync is what is in your router settings compared to say doing a download or speedtest.
Line sync happens before you connect to an ISP so your router itself should always be syncing at 10mbit.

Vox capped accounts (I assume thats what the vox one is) dont have a speed limit and combined with the overhead of ADSL 8.5 sounds about right.

I dont know what the telkom account is, but if it is a uncapped one it looks like it never got upgraded to a 10mbit one.

I'm having the same problem, I upgraded from 4mb to 10mb this week, the router syncs at 10mb but the TI account upgrade hasn't gone through the system yet so that's still registering a speed of just over 4mb.

Going to give it until tomorrow and take it from there.

Interleaving and Assia (for information purposes)

please post your findings information and experience about slow connections, high pings or any sort of problem you experiencing with interleaving and if you know since when you have been on interleaving as well where you are situated.

Since when have you been on interleave and where are you situated

This is for information purposes only and will hopefully help.
