I have recently bought a new ADSL wireless router from Afrihost (my old one died). And, as you know, they have recently migrated their ADSL services to MTN.
Prior to these two events which occurred roughly at the same time, I didn't have an issue with ADSL with Afrihost.
Now, there I am getting strange behaviour from my ADSL. When accessing on my laptop, I get internet connection immediately after I connect, a few seconds later it drops. My connection to the router is fine, no problems there. If I disable the wireless on my laptop, and re-enable it, I get my internet back, but only for 3 - 8 seconds again.
At other times the connection is fine for hours on end with no dropping in internet connection.
My smartphone connects when my laptop can't... which is strange, unless it is dropping to 3G to compensate for lack of internet connection through the router.
What could be causing this? And why after 4 weeks is Afrihost not able to do anything about it?
