When I got home, I noticed my internet wasnt working. A dialup connection was still established, but nothing would work, it wasnt receiving any packets. I disconnected and it worked. For about an hour. Then it did the same thing, I disconnected retried, worked for a minute then died again. Rebooted the device (taking battery out and all), redialed, and again it only worked for a minute.

Whats causing this issue ?

I'm connected to Wynberg/Cape Town
Neotel Prime
RSSI 78

Hi all,

I have reported your scenario(s) to the networks team - from the persons posting in this thread this seems to be isolated to the Cape Town area. We are currently investigating and will provide feedback.

If there are any other areas that are affected by this please post in this thread area details.

Thank you.

Surely, your techies (24/7)? would have let you know more about the problem than folks who want their mail and news?

Same issue in Bedfordview, one day it is on for a bit and then totally down. Kele was supposed to organise a techie to look at it but obviously nothing was done

QX6700RULZ:

I have PMed you.

Bedfordview is one the sites marked for upgrade / optimisation - will keep you posted.

...or maybe not. I have also been experiencing the same scenario for the last week or so - internet connection "hangs", still shows as connected, but no incoming or outgoing traffic.

I have also been experiencing quite a few connection drops as of late (2+ a day at least), AND since the 31st of March i have had a noticeable drop in speed - last month (before my upgrade to the Unlimited package) my download speeds consistantly averaged above 1.2mb/s, and now its sporadic as hell :(

Neoconnect Prime, Pretoria, could this also please be investigated?

Thanks

The problem has arisen for me again. I tried numerous times to connect and it'd connect, I could ping a server, but the pings would stop but it still showed that it is connected.

I've tried unplugging the phone, taking out the battery, and plugging it in again, but it still carried on giving the problem.

@ busker, check your PM - I need some info from you please.

Is your anti virus software up to date? It could be a virus spamming emails causing your pings to time out.

Got back from work and my connection was dead. Disconnected and reconnected and everything was fine for about 100Mb then it died again. Connected again and so far it is fine.

@ ninex: What product are you using, Prime / Lite / Flex Data?

I am in Northcliff Johannesburg and also have the same problem on and off. I am using prime and sometimes I just cant access any pages or do downloads even though the connection is still active. Rebooting the device and removing the battery doesn't always work
