Internet Access Dying

Day Two

My connection has been up for two days running without a drop while working. Fair enough I only get onto it when I get home but I am on the net the whole time. Not quick but not as painfully slow as before. Have resorted to downloading the windows client for dyndns, at least I can trust that. I can finally ping my server. Hopefully I can now build my web site with peace of mind that people can always get to it. Holding routing my mail for now, that is more critical. If my livelyhood depended on this connection, I would have manifested many colours by now.

Hope its working coz Neotel did something and its not because everyone in my area is back to ADSL

Day 6

Yes 6 days of "glorious" bad connection speeds and constant disconnects. Signal has gone from excellent to fair since Thursday last week.
BTW speeds vary from Zzzzzz... (5kbps) to "lightning fast" for the 1960s (12kbps)

Promises of being contacted by the technical team, still promises.
Helpdesk states the technical team updated my ticket to show that an email was sent, yet still no email. Funny how they never fail to send the monthly statement, but cannot get a simple email or phone call right

i thought neotel is only the uncapped in sa but after taking this never got the speed limit over 20kbs customer sucks wth same word we are rectifying your problem they stood on their word from past 15 days am paying un necesarly waste of this one plz avoid this thing

Neotel, pick up your game!! Nothing but bad speeds and disconnects since i got neotel.

Day three and no drop. Things are looking up. @[)roi(] Hopefully I can catch up Xthumbs

Glad things are looking up for someone with Neotel;
This concludes day 7 of bad or no connectivity, with even the speedtest.neotel.co.za website timing out. Finally after a few attempts got confirmation how pathetic my connection is today:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 33 kbps (4.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 18 kbps (2.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Whatever Neotel did to the network in Parkhurst last week is the cause of my frustrations + even with a commitment from from @Neotel (Rep), I still have not received either a phone call or email. :(

I will definitely be insisting on a credit for all the days without connectivity.

I got Prime unlimited at the beginning of the month.... worked great for 3 days then nothing... first it actually disconnected, but then it just went dead.. stayed connected, but dead.

Plenty of phone calls ( at least the call center is polite and tries to be helpful, unlike telkom) and basically I have been told "very sorry, beeeg problem, no know when it fixes"

am I the only one that thinks that this might be bandwidth related? that maybe Neotel sold more bandwidth than it has... until the seacom line goes live and theyre just stalling us until then? 54 days to go according to their website.... bleh

I'm also having the same problem, same story, happens "now and again"

Line is connected at 2.4mb but nothing happens, IE just times out.

I have to disconnect a few times, turn the device off a few times, it eventually comes right, but I don't actually take credit for 'fixing it' - most times I just give up and go do something else.

Yeah seems like most of us are having this issue.

I had it last night again.

I haven't actually noticed. It seems fine now, it's a good day today though. I'll have to wait for a 'bad' day.

I have checked in bad weather, barring storms that even disrupt DSTV, my unit always displays 4 bars, unless the bad weather is elsewhere. I think that the cables to the antenna's are fiber tho. So bad weather elsewhere should not affect that....

no internet on neoflex since friday

ok a lie...i did have bursts lasting about 3 minutes.

today not even the bursts.....

oh yeh, i am still waiting for technical support to call me back....hmmmmmmm

I will also be requesting a credit, lets see, their accounts so far appear to be as clueless as the technical support

Day Six

What do you know, day six and still up. Even survived a power cut with back up power lasting through on Saturday night, checked through Cell Phone wireless and still up. Now lets see about Day 7. I should start marking my wall for each day up.

Wishing everyone up time

Day Eight

Finally connection died. Had to restart to do this post. Anyway, That's a new record. Should I be popping champagne or cursing?

I also got the same problem as you guys and I am in Robin Hills and having 4 signal bars and it stays on EVDO but I can surf and download for hours and then it will happen sometimes and when I am at work then my connection will sometimes "die" but will say connected and sometimes I must reset the phone a few times to get connected again.

I am getting great speeds so far and it is nice to have uncapped 2Mbit
