IE8 was released in Beta form on Wednesday and has Microsoft developers waiting with baited breath to see what the real world response will be.

The reaction from the blog CSSVault is: WTF.

“Microsoft has finally made Internet Explorer 8 Beta publicly available for download, and all I can say is: WTF?

First of all, IE8 can only be installed in Windows Vista SP1, XP SP2, 2008 Server, and 2003 Server SP2. Which leads me to think that this is nothing more than a business ploy to get people to upgrade their *cough* legal *cough* Microsoft OS.”

ComputerWorld have also reported problems that users had when trying to update to IE8.

“Users who try to reach Windows Update with Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) Beta 1 are instead greeted with a message stating, ‘To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later’.”
According to ComputerWorld the problems are not limited to updating IE to version 8 but include accessing other popular sites like Windows’ own Live Mail.

“Elsewhere, users have reported problems accessing or rendering other sites with IE8 Beta 1, including Facebook, Google Inc.’s Gmail and Microsoft’s own Windows Live Mail,” reported ComputerWorld
