Internet Solutions being iffy?

So is it just me or are some int sites working but the majority down cause all i want is my international news server to work *Cries*

Well most sites at our office in Pretoria is not working either. They should really sort the **** out, keeps on happening.

!$@#$!^

IS is now just plain rubbish atm. I need to check product information for an order but, alas.

Well I guess it's time to fire up my proxy server on my machine at work (iBurst)...

Satellite eh? Hmm...

"We are sorry, the lack of international bandwidth is due to several kite flyers blocking the signal..."

Weird thing though is I can still download email from a server in the US, and I can browse a site I know is hosted there, but I can't even reach google.

Yeah.. *sigh* I guess I should move over to SAIX. but I kind of liked the idea of having local bandwidth left during the month to use with my proxy and fetching Linux stuff from ftp.is.co.za

You know, just once I'd like to have a hassle-free browsing experience, ~R700 a month for something that hardly works reliable or as it should.

You can buy a R700 DVD player and it it doesn't work you can $!@#$ well take it back and get a replacement.

*mutter, rant, heads for the liquor closet*

They have been extremely dodgy for close on a year now!

Openweb should be lawfully allowed to sue/request/whatever IS for poor quality of service.

People should get refunded for this sort of thing.

Anyone else finding it "iffy" again this afternoon? IS International that is.

Don't worry - today I've been getting 5KB/sec on a SAIX based account for international.
Doesn't matter if it's HTTP or FTP or what site I download from - it's like being on dialup. Local is no problem.

I think it's time everyone gets an SLA with their provider. Bad bandwidth for 48 hours = no charge for that month
It's like buying a car but the engine only puts out half the power that was advertised.

IS International is very intermittent at the moment. Probably the cloud cover.

Sigh......

In the end is it not Telkom's fault for making SAT3 so expensive and unmanageable that IS chose to use Satellite instead?
