Hi All

Just want some help.

I know you can buy this pack form your existing number if you are on telkom more, but if I want to convert to sim-sonke after buying this pack, would i still keep the pack which come monthly, Telkom Mobile call center said if i changed i will lose this benefits, is this true?

Not true. You can switch and keep starter pack bundle. What they say however is true regarding losing usual Telkom More tariff benefits. It is normal, all networks give you such threats when switching to less expensive tariff. On Vodacom I had to confirm 5 times during USSD session before it was accepted. :)

You can switch and the data benefit will remain. It would be a better option to just convert a simsonke to Telkom more buy and the migrate back if you have a existing sim. No need to buy a sim cards then.

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now. Did anyone have some measure of success with going this route, i.e. from Sim-sonke to Telkom More, load the starter back and then convert back to Sim-Sonke again?

Yes. No problem.

I did it on 2 simcards. I am even able to load more than one. So I was on sim sonke and moved to telkom more via *180# then bought one R499 package and one R249 package for 1.5GB monthly data and converted back to sim sonke right after and it was working fine and still is working fine. Data still gets allocated every month.

Ok - I changed to more and bought the airtime today. Will purchase the bundle via USSD on Thursday.
BTW the Telkom Mobile shop was clueless on this, so thanks again @cavedog and @HendrieV.

If you want even more value for money recharge when you are on Telkom More price plan do when you change back to sim sonke the Telkom More free airtime that is only valid for 7 days after recharge will then be depleted @ sim sonke call ratesrates....

Super value for money!

I somehow get the feeling it isn't supposed to work like that :D

Nope it's not supposed to but I'm not complaining because it works out to about 38c per minute ;)

Ok. But will the free airtime still expire after the 7 day window after I switched back to Sim-sonke? And can I use the free airtime to purchase data bundles?

Will still expire and still cannot be used to buy bundles.

Thanks for all the reply, just waiting for the old bundle to finish, then going to buy a new one. Also just to make sure if i move to sim-sonke,the free airtime will be still available,
