Apple has released iOS 6.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

You can download the update by selecting Software Update from the General menu on your iOS device.

● LTE support for more carriers (complete list of supported carriers at www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/)
● Purchase movie tickets through Fandango with Siri (USA only)
● iTunes Match subscribers can now download individual songs from iCloud
● New button to reset the Advertising Identifier

in SA only Vodacom has got LTE.

Hope this update improves my i5's battery life. I'm really disappointed by it currently.

Downloaded it at 9:15am.

Amazingly enough my battery is still on 83%! ( Was fully charged at time of iOS 6.1 update )
Very happy!

Got the FULL restore, suppose if I install this update I'll have to re-download my magazines etc?

I'm not 100% certain but isn't that backed up if you do the sync on your PC?

The Zino mags won't be in the backup. You'll have to download them again.

But from Zinio's FAQ:

Reduce your iTunes backup time
In the settings menu (tap the settings icon at the bottom right of the app), read the options for setting your iTunes backups. If you choose not to sync your magazines with iTunes, your backup time will be shorter, but your magazines will not be backed up.
So the implication is that your backups can include your magazines - though I'm not sure if it's done by default.

battery actually seems worse. will see if it settles soon.

That is strange. I'm over a day now and this is my first time my battery has actually lasted 24 hours.

Why would you do a restore?

Just run the update and you won't need to re-download anything.

Doing a full restore on 6.0.1 fixed my battery issues so I have to consider that in the future.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Will give iOS6.1 a week or so for any funnies to crawl out of the wood. Then apply it if there's no funnies.

Recommended if a jailbreak is released next week.

Updated and noticed that the "hotspot" feature was added after this update. (iPhone 4/Cell C Carrier)
