iPad getting spanked with criticism

"The iPad will advance a lot," he said. "Generation three will probably be the killer product." It was a third generation iPhone, tied to an online store for fun applications, that catapulted the Apple smartphones to the top of the market and have brought billions of dollars to the firm's coffers.

Bingo, wait until the 3rd Gen, then we will see if the iPad is an Epic Fail.

I think Apple have hit a home run here. No need to wait for 3rd generation.

i use a writing pad and im also pi$$ed off :D... seriously now write something more constructive...

That's what I call consumer beta testing but the sad thing about this is that the entry level model cost about the same price of an ION netbook(even a tablet netbook) and people will still come in their numbers to buy it.

Apple is a power brand, you could imprint the emblem into a dog turd and people would still buy it.

Its the geeks who are whinging, the non-geeks who are employed and have money outnumber them.
They actually like to have "simple" things which doesn't require a degree in rocket science in order to figure out how it works.

Even my granny will be able to surf the net on this iPad.
It's going to be huge.

"Claudine Beaumont, technology writer for Britain's Daily Telegraph, hailed the sleekness of the iPad, its reading software and virtual keyboard.

"It won't replace your laptop, but I think it may have sounded the death knell for notebook computers," she wrote."

Maybe they need another technology writer. Laptop = Notebook. Maybe she meant netbook. Wrong anyway.

Looks nice, but I still don't trust Apple with telling you what you can do with your media on your hardware. And the price is just too high. I'd rather buy a netbook or another laptop with Windows 7.

There are going to be enough people lining up with their cash to beta test this product so all the bugs should be ironed out quickly. It's still apple though and you always want to wait till gen 2 if you can. :)

Why do people insist on comparing it with a netbook when it's clearly a different niche.

...it's because they all have these mats you see, with conclusions on them - so they can jump to one.

Seriously though: I can understand how people can be confused. I'm a fairly techy dude and I'm not really sure what the iPad is actually for TBH.
On paper it just seems like it's this gadget thing but without this and without that and without those and none of these... just seems to be a little spartan in terms of features.

From experience though I'd say that you need to try one out before making a judgment.

The average consumer is going to love this thing.

What would you say it was then? An oversized PDA?

I would LOVE a bigger version of my iPhone!

I am definitely going to buy one. (once they jail-break it of course)

I actually think I am going to get this instead of the Kindle. They will probably have the kindle app on there anyway!

Its a content delivery device with touch screen interface.

What does it really have in common with a netbook? A screen and that's pretty much it.

I'll be honest for me my netbook is one of the biggest WTF products I own. It's a small, underpowered device, with crappy battery life, that does nothing particularly well at all and I'd swap it for a iPad tomorrow, heck I'd swap it for an iPad case tomorrow because it would suit my needs down to a t.

If it suits your needs that perfect. I just think in it's current form there are going to be a lot of people who won't buy it simply because it is very restrictive. It's sort of like the console vs pc argument with the gaming aspect.
