Ipad/iphone Gmail setup?

Just want to find out from other Gmail users if you have a Microsoft exchange setup or did you set it up with the normal Gmail tab button within settings?

What would be the biggest difference/benefit between these two setups?

If you don't set it up as Microsoft Exchange, you don't get the push functionality as far as i know.

I have set it up with Exchange. Coming from the BB I don't want to live without push mail. It's a bit poor that the 'normal' GMail setup on the iPhone doesn't support push.

Why not just set it to check every 15 minutes? My emails always come through straight away though. The IMAP protocol does a good job of getting it to you ASAP. At home I haven't even set up a check interval and as soon as I hear the mail sound go off, 5 seconds later it comes through on my iPhone and this isn't just every 15 minutes. Whether its a minute later or whatever, I always constantly receive emails and its not in 15 minute intervals. I'm sure the IMAP basically performs the function of push but set it to check every 15 minutes incase it doesn't work. I have never had any issues and never missed my blackberry since making the switch.

I have setup my iPhone and iPad to use microsoft exchange settings by following these instructions:

The push notifcations for email, calendar and contacts are near instant.
