iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

Its been like this for years and years already. Sept they have the announcement, and SA generally gets stock around 2 months later or thereabouts. Generally Apple certified resellers would get first, followed by the networks and so on.
Lets hope iStore and Digicape can get some stock soon.

I actually wonder how we negotiate the number of units we get on first shipment since it seems like the iPhone12 had record orders this year already.

Perhaps they didn’t expect that because the shipping dates overseas have already slipped by a couple of weeks.

South Africa on the first load of stock, generally gets a small percentage across the iStore, the networks etc. Its once things settle down, that we get more and more stock flowing in. The US ensures that their residents, are supplied first, because thats their market in terms of sales.

I cannot wait to see that 12 Pro Max camera in action, I read that the sensor is 47% larger than the smaller 12 Pro’s camera sensor, so the Max is really taking things a step further this year:
Why the iPhone 12 Pro Max is Apple's first serious attack on mirrorless cameras

I mean I am very happy with my 11 Pro Max camera, truly appreciate Night Mode on it but it’s certainly not the best in that area, but with the 12 Pro Max coming with a much larger sensor things could change pretty dramatically put together with that A14, I’m expecting some huge leaps.

Anyone here planning to get the 12 Pro Max?

Yeah I am excited for the 12Pro Max for the camera.
I had a 6Plus couple years ago and the 12Pro Max has almost the same body dimensions as the 6Plus and I loved that phone in terms of feel in my hands.

Now the screen is even bigger but in the same body size roughly.

MagSafe on iPhone 12 only works full speed with Apple’s new 20W charger

If you want to charge your iPhone 12 full speed via Apple’s new MagSafe wireless charger, you’ll need to run out and buy the company’s new 20-watt USB-C charger because higher-wattage Apple chargers and third-party options currently don’t perform quite well.

The $39 MagSafe charger provides up to fifteen watts of power for the iPhone 12 phones. When used with other devices, like Android handsets or older iPhones, it works as a standard Qi-compliant wireless charger that maxes out at 7.5 watts of power. But as it turns out, MagSafe only charges at full 15-watt speed when connected to Apple’s new 20-watt charger.

YouTuber Aaron Zollo tested a bunch of chargers with his iPhone 12 Pro, including MagSafe. He used a meter to measure power output and discovered that the MagSafe charger only achieved its top 15-watt charging speed when used with Apple’s new 20-watt charger.

Here are the results of his test:

- Apple 20W USB-C charger: 15W MagSafe charge speed
- Apple 18W USB-C charger: 13W MagSafe charge speed
- Apple 96W USB-C charger: 10W MagSafe charge speed
- Anker 30W USB-C PowerPort Atom PD 1 charger: 7.5W-10W MagSafe charge speed
- Aukey 65W USB-C charger: 8W-9W MagSafe charge speed
- Google Pixel USB-C charger: 7.5W-9W MagSafe charge speed
- Samsung Galaxy Note 20 USB-C Ultra charger: 6W-7W MagSafe charge speed

Honestly dont really get the Magsafe charger use?.. assuming this.. you need to use it in your house with the 20W charger.

What would really be the beneficial reason to use it instead of just a cable? I mean the phone is ultimately still connected to a cable Magsafe or not? Magsafe will also charge slower than a direct cable.

Maybe one can say wireless charging in a car could be worthwhile?

Just got this message from the iStore team. I pre-ordered in store at Brooklyn Mall.

Dear iStore customer - we thank you for your continued patience. Due to global stock constraints, we are still working hard to secure your iPhone 12 Pro and will be in contact as soon as stock is available. If you are no longer interested, please reply NO to this SMS. Regards, The iStore Team
