With the M* series Macs perhaps because of the 10x performance improvement vs Intel but for most other things it doesn't matter. New tech comes out all the time.
 
Yes definitely tech changes really fast and because of that it gets obsolete really fast also. One big reason I completely moved away from android was complete lack of support update support for some manufacturers. At least with Apple devices I get minimum 4 years upgradeability. I have had people caught between charger changes, processor type changes etc. because I generally max out my devices when I get them. Ie use them until they are no longer efficient or no longer works I find that getting the most recent version helps me. Last year I had go upgrade from a 12 pro. I made sure I got the 15 Pro thereby unifying all my charges for example.
 
Day by day battery life seems to get ever better on iOS 18 on my 15 Pro Max, I am truly impressed, more so given I am on 18.1 Dev Beta 4, in my mind Dev Betas are meant to be bug ridden messes but it feels more like Apple took 18.0 release candidate and then threw in Apple Intelligence Beta and called this 18.1 Beta.
 
I can get quite a good trade-in price on my old standby XS at iStore. I'm pondering replacing my 13 with a 15 Pro and keeping the 13 as a standby. How long after the 16 launch before the 15 Pro is not available new any longer?

No idea, Core Group seem to have brought less stock of the iPhones these last couple of releases from what I have seen, so between iStore, Mac Shack and other retailers you may have a few months give or take, I would recommend jumping in before December Christmas rush.
 
Hi anyone living in Cape Town area looking to upgrade, I am looking for a used iPhone to buy does not have to be a pro model. Store prices are outrageous based on how much they pay for your used phone and FB marketplace looks to be full of scam iPhones at first glance and I don’t want to risk it.

Best case IPhone 15 128 gig under 10000
alternatives all under 10k of course the older the phone the lower the budget 14 or 13. I do not need the pro version. I just need this for a very specific reason. I need the user to be able to use the notify when left behind option. The 15 is preferred due to the USB C charger but i just need a ok phone nothing fancy.

I think you’re going to struggle to find an iPhone 15 for under R10k.

You might get a pre-owned 12 (still a very capable device) for that price, otherwise it may be worth looking at an SE.

What do you want to be notified of when left behind? AirTag? iPad? ???
 
At what price would a 15 Pro be a worthwhile purchase over a 16 Pro at this point?
