Seems like it will be $199 for the earphone accesories...

Other countires are selling the stuff already, we don't even have a price yet!

I thought Vodacom could compete against the world, guess it's just another Rip-off African Company - late delivery, high prices....:(
 
why dont you just buy one on amazon and then get it shipped over, will wait till the end the end of the day to see there pricing, but if vodacom is full of * then this might be a viable option.
 
would love to know whats its going to cost. But I don't expect it to sell anywhere near $199 here.
Maybe $199 * 10 (for an inflated rate) * 2 (middle man markup) * 2 (vodacom markup)

I wouldn't buy from amazon - gonna cost a fortune to get it delivered - that's if it even makes it here at all!
 
I dont think the full price is $199. Its a $199 pay in and then you are locked into a 24 month contract with AT&T I think. So those of you expecting iphones for the equivalent of $199 are mistaken
 
I'm just getting so amused by all the ranting and raving of people about how much they THINK VC are going to rip us off... or how they'll just import one or something for so much less than VC will charge for it etc etc etc....

Its genuinely v v amusing.
 
I'll just stick to my HTC. at least it's a 3 trick pony :D
 
I am chatting to Apple and Vodacom in the next podcast...let's hope they have some news! They have an NDA over their heads so everything til now has been unofficial, which means we may only get the iPhone for Christmas.

Which means they are allowed to up the price even more than usual, just because it's christmas time..:(

Mate of mine is considering getting one in Norway. They aren't allowed more than 1 year contracts, so the initial pay in (if the english translation is correct) is ~3500 krone (over 4k in rands) and 400 krone per month.

As for Vodacom, a possible release date and ballpark figure for pricing would sure be nice, though that doesnt seem forthcoming!!

I just wanna know so i can decide whether to jump ship to MTN and get a Nokia N82 instead!! :( Tired of paying VC subs just so that I can keep my VC number. Would have converted to prepaid by now but the Upgrade helpline told me I would not be able to upgrade (if I did a conversion to prepaid) for 6 months after converting! :sick: Bastards...
 
There certainly is a lot of hype around the iPhone. While I personally do not buy hardware from a fruit company I cannot argue with the fact that the iPhone is a capable mobile.

Just remember one thing - while everyone is drooling and dreaming over the iPhone - a lot of people are USING (physically touching) phones that are way more advance (like the N82).

It's your choice - you can dream on or live the dream now.
 
I would like to know how you are going to get stock, when only major carriers and Apple stores themselves are going to have stock?
