iPhone 3G hype grows

The Phone should retail in the market of about R 8 000.00 or so for the 8GB and about R1200 - R1500 more for the 16GB, But then it has not been 100% confirmed and could change at any given stage, We should recieve stock in by the end of July, pre register for for the phone should you wish too...

I assume that's prepaid? But still...

Apple Stores in the states and UK do have stock....

Apple stores here probably won't because they're run by the useless rip-off company called Core

Maybe there, but one of my rss feeds mentioned a story about stores across the globe (presumably excluding US and UK) are not getting stock.. let me have a look quick

Well whatever it costs, with my 16gig Touch and the N96 (when it comes out), I'll be happy.

R10 000 is just going a *little* too far.

Well smartcom, since our own VC rep knows nothing about when it might be released, I am seriously questioning your own "inside" info. Also my guess is any Vodacom partner will be able to sell the phone on contract, but that they'd prefer to have the initial launch happen thru VSP.

Just remember one thing - while everyone is drooling and dreaming over the iPhone - a lot of people are USING (physically touching) phones that are way more advance (like the N82).
Pity about that horrendous keyboard on the N82. If it wasn't for that I'd probably have one already.

Anyway, for those who want to look into the iPhone 3G's guts, try here.

if my name was bender i would prob have a semi right now......

There certainly is a lot of hype around the iPhone. While I personally do not buy hardware from a fruit company I cannot argue with the fact that the iPhone is a capable mobile.

It's your choice - you can dream on or live the dream now.

N82 is ok...
iPhone is better..... lol I actually said it:p

Didnt Vodacom say 20th July?

Vodacom have said absolutely NO date whatsoever...

But I do remember you saying October a few days ago though, so are your inside sources feeding you false information now?

I heard people here say July, August, September and December.

lets hope for next year people, and any price below R10,000...
*holding thumbs*

October it will be here, even January 2009 it will be here. Initial release, thats..... sometime this month.

When it was launched Steve Jobs said the iPhone would sell globally for $199. That was in his live address.

I also read that Apple is being really heavy handed with resellers, and that they are totally dictating the price.

So if it is offered for anything above R2,500.00 it's just not cool. But then again when it comes to apple product distribution there are a lot of things that are just not cool (not so subtle dig at Core)

As i said in another thread: He's a DOO$
Now for some math: Steve Jobs = Pure DOO$
Mugabe = Crazy Doo$

so... Steve Jobs > Robert Mugabe
Call Mbeki and tell him to go negotiate and open a "bridge of communication" for the rest of the world

So there is a great opportunity for Vodacom to shake up the market a bit. They could revolutionise the industry with the iPhone, imagine everyone has one!
