iPhone 4 from Australia

MAN what a mission. Ordered iPhone from Techoni, then they sent me a mail this morning, that they do not accept credit cards from SA (although they accept VISA and VISA is worldwide... anyhow)
So I requested the AUssie friend to purchase, which he ordered, I refunded him via Paypal, now he needs to verify his account as it appears that he is involved with money laundering (probably because of a big amount coming in and no product shipped)

But iPhone ordered at least... Now just hoping it will reach him in time. :)

Wow, that does sound like a mission!!

I took a chance on the Australian Apple Online Store by using my SA credit card (the FAQ said they only accepted Aussie cards). As you know, it worked :) My iPhone 4 actually arrived at my mom's place today!!!! Yeah!!!! Now my iPad and iPhone have to sit and wait for me to arrive... 4 days!!!

Man you are lucky!!!! When did you order yours? I wanted to order from Apple store as it is about R1000 cheaper, but did not want to take a chance and then they cannot deliver in time.

Placed order on 1 August for the iPad and iPhone 4.
iPad arrived on 16 August (about 2 weeks) and iPhone 4 arrived today (about 3 weeks).
More stock of the iPad has since been made available and thus the waiting period has gone from 7-10 working days down to 1-3 working days. iPhone is still very new and thus still a waiting period of 3 weeks...
Just glad that when I arrive now I don't have to run from store to store to find stock of either product... :)

Ahh, clever boy. If I just did some proper researh i would have ordered the phone much earlier, as I knew that he as coming for almost a year now. But also had to sort out finances first... Either way, as long as I get it. 2g is WAYYYYY to slow for me now, would not survive without SBSettings (free Memory/Respring) :D
 
Guys and Gals, my iPhone 4 has just been delivered to the friend in Aus (who is now threatening to keep it for himself... lol)

Now the tough part is, waiting a week and 2 days for a phone that has been delivered, is already yours, but you cant touch it yet...... its gonna be tough!

@rapid, yes, especially when the friend sends you photo's of that beautiful box, still wrapped in plastic, and you know that he will have the honours of openin the box on your behalf (just simplifies the whole customs process... i cannot pay another R2000 to get the phone)
I hope you asked your mom to charge it so long! :D

Sjoe, at least she hasn't sent me any photos - then I'd be besides myself!!!! Ha ha - boxes still sealed - told her should could open and have a look but she's leaving them for me to open :)

Nah, although it is exciting to open the box yourself, nothing beats getting there and it is fully charged, just waiting for you to start playing with it! :D
 
And what can i say!!! The iPhone 4 is truly amazing!!!!! I just can't compare it to the speed of my 2g. Had about 15 apps+games open (with the multitaksing), and i had absolutely no delays in anything! Now just waiting for Voda to activate my simswop, so that i can test signal strength...

Unfortunately, I had 4.0.2 factory installed, so no jailbreak yet. :(
 
Oh yes, and the best of all, it fits PERFECTLY in my 2g's dock! Glad I didn't order one with the phone

NICE!!! Glad you liking it dude - it is a tooootally awesome phone :)
 
Fully agree!!! And the signal is way better than on my 2g! On my usual 'spot' at home, i would have 1-2 bars with 2g, i now have 4-5 bars constantly! Yes the death grip does drop the signal if held long enough, but as you mentioned before, no issues if you have it in a case (which i do!)

Awesome phone, and GREAT photos/videos!!! Just a pity I cannot jailbreak... I miss my SBSettings.

Busy downloading iPhodroid for my 2g now... seems interesting. :)
