I've recently moved to an iPhone 4, but I am unable to get the phone to connect to the internet via 3G. Via wi-fi, I have no problem browsing, but the moment that I am dependent on the MTN 3G network, I get an error message saying that "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".

In order to resolve the problem, I have reset all settings on the phone and updated to the latest IOS version. I have tried the myMTN APN (both without a password and the MTN / MTN username password combination) as well as the internet APN. The guys on the 1555 helpdesk have confirmed that everything on my contract seems fine and have "reset" my number on the network. I have rebooted, reset and removed the SIM card all with no luck.

Based on the error message it sounds like the phone resolves the DNS name, but after that does not receive data from the website. If I look at the usage, 3.0MB sent, 454kb received, it supports that view. That having been said, I am not a fundi on telco systems or the iPhone fir that matter, so it is merely an educated guess.

Where do I go from here? Not having access to the web or email from my mobile is killing me!

I have never heard of that before im afraid to admit, even though the iphone and myself are old enemies...
Is there one of the forumites that could offer some insight to this, cause if 1555 are stumped then so am i and i call software fault...

Right, so here's the kicker.

I used to run a dual SIM, with the iPhone being a backup to my Blackberry. Browsing on the iPhone worked just fine. Then in December I reached my voluntary call cap (international data roaming is a biiatch) and the SIM cards were soft locked. I phoned Nashua and both SIM's were unlocked, but I have not been able to use data on the iPhone since.

This wasn't a big concern as I used the Blackberry as my primary phone until now. I can't imagine this being much of an issue as the iPhone now uses my primary number and has a brand new micro SIM, so either it's a coincidence or I have flattered myself in my understanding of how things work
