Hi guys

Iphone 4s still running IOS7

My 4s has been giving me strange battery issues after i dropped the phone, the battery usage does not update and when i charge the phone when the bat is dead it just keeps on rebooting. after a while it comes right and i works fine.
Issue only happens when battery runs dead.

Now last night i decide to update the software( *facepalm*) to see if that will sort out the issue.

Long story short update fails with unknown error 29. Tried DFU mode with no luck.

Any other tips you can share to restore or reset the phone?

Also is there a place in Randburg i can take it to?

Thanks

Take it apart and check battery connection. In Randburg shopping centre there is a good shop down the passage, close to SAPO. I was always buying cheap batteries there. Ask them to look at the battery connection.

If I had a proper screwdriver, I would offer it for you, but so far I didn't see any.

DFU must work, my bet is you aren't getting it into DFU mode at all.

Sounds like some cells in the battery are dead, replace battery and it should be good to go.

Update

Battery change did the trick, a guy at work had a secondhand battery and swapped it for me. My phone is now on IOS 9.2. will see how it holds up this week. so far its ok. maybe a bit slower.
