Stuff Magazine needs a wake-up call. Seriously. Thát is what people here are trying to bring across. Their pro-Apple bias has been obvious for a long time and people get a bit gatvol of that. Those that voted against Stuff's statement aren't Apple haters ... most just want them to realise that they must do something to gain more credibility. They just jump in and state that the iPhone 5 is the best smart phone ever ... but from what evidence can they state that? Did they actually test the device themselves or just read what Apple wrote? We can all read Apple's press releases and watch the videos ... just like them ... but only a fool of a magazine editor will jump out and say it IS the best ever without testing it. They gave away their bias there and then. Who can then believe anything they write? Stupid. And I believe thát is what the voters are trying to say.

Yet a poll in which NONE of those polled have touched or even physically beheld the iPhone5 is credible?

But apart from a handful of balanced opinions on this matter, the rest of the android fanboys are just plus-one'ing and ad homineming through their apple hate. Yet over a 100 people voted No.

I don't think that it is a bad phone, in fact it is quite a good phone, but it is nowhere near the best phone.

I would, for example, rate the Sony Xperia T (http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_t-4899.php) as a better phone.

It is better in many respects, it is certainly better looking, it may even be faster, but I have not seen benchmarks of the dual-core krait 1.5GHz CPU yet.

Be that as it may, the Xperia T is possibly not even the best phone on the market. I haven't considered the S3 and the Lumia 920, amongst others.

But that is just it. Nobody knows for sure and thát is why people rather vote no. Give the forumites here a bit more credit people. When voting is so overwhelming one sided on a forum like this then there is a message in it ... an important one.
 
I think the iPhone 5 may well be the best smart phone ever, but I cannot say so for sure because for all we know Apple might end up with Antennagate 2, or something similar. A magazine cannot now already make the claim Stuff did ... and thát is the point.

I give the forumites credit. They're totally entitled to believe that it isn't the best phone in the world. In fact maybe they're right, if such a thing can ever be objectively measured. But here you're just attacking Stuff magazine on exactly the same basis - unsubstantiated opinion.
 
Stuff jumped the gun and is standing naked now ... the Apple bias that many suspected all-along clear for all to see. What about the Nokia 920 ... for example? They will quickly state that have haven't tested it so they couldn't comment ... but when it came to the iPhone they immediately "just knew".

I think there are a few things that are worth the bucks, WidgetLocker for example I think it was 20 bucks or something, to be able to go mad with lock screen customising is pretty cool, lots of sliders to choose from

Also Google had a killer promo a while ago where you pretty much got around 60+? really nice apps for 95 cents.

... and please don't see all the "no" voters as Fandroids. A lot of people just use common sense to see through bullsh_t marketing claims.

I never saw anybody as anything. It would be nice if the 'yes' voters weren't seen as iSheep but that's unlikely to happen.
 
What I honestly think is this: the MyBroadband community is largely composed of tech early adopters and hardcore fans. They would tend to see tech specs as highly important and more-is-better philosophy with things like screen size and cutting-edge features like NFC. They also lean towards open-source software and value customizability. So they would obviously tend away from the iPhone5 and more towards Android largescreen phones.

Cerebus, I believe the "no" voting was not aimed against Apple or the iPhone but against Stuff for jumping the gun and showing bias that a magazine should never do. I think even some Apple fans voted no. Magazines must test and then tell ... not tell and then test later. This is about Stuff, not Apple.

Uhm... Maybe the no voting was just plain old disagreement with the "iPhone5=best smartphone ever", regardless of anything other than that statement.
