Apple has announced the launch date of the iPhone 5 in South Africa.

The iPhone 5 comes in either black & slate or white & silver for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model, and $399 for the 64GB model.

Considering that 2 weeks ago the Vodashops I went to was quoting R9600 for 4S 16GB, you can be sure it will be at least that price. IIRC at launch date for 4/4S they were only doing contracts initially so even if you wanted too you couldn't buy it cash on launch date.

Too late. After an iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPad 2 and iPad 3 I've abandoned ship for the Samsung Note 2. I'll keep the iPad 3 as it works fine and it loses value fast ... It's just very heavy
