iPhone 5 LTE support for Vodacom subscribers

Who can tell me, this iOS 6.1 update to enable LTE. Is it only for the iPhone 5 to enable LTE?

Because I updated my iPad 4 to iOS 6.1 and I don't see options for LTE anywhere.

I have LTE enabled on my iPad SIM and I've even set the APN to lte.vodacom.za and it still only connects on 3G.

Any ideas?

I'm in a LTE coverage area and I'm getting better speeds on HSPA+.

I think the HSPA network is just more stable or further reaching than LTE.

I've actually turned LTE off on my iPhone.

Finally got a chance to test LTE yesterday at the CTICC in Cape Town.

28.36 Mbps down
7.86Mbps up

7 times faster than my ADSL line. :wtf:

I am in Midrand I got LTE showing on my iPhone, i'm on contract, and i can get max 6.36Mbps.
Thats shocking!! Tried at multiple locations, and still not getting anything close to 20Mbps.

Is your line provisioned for LTE and have you changed your APN to lte.vodacom.za ?

LTE speeds in Midrand are insane!

While the download speeds we currently get are mostly in line with HSPA+ download speeds (due to lack of spectrum), the upload speeds are just insane.

Not so long ago a 20Mb/s up and down link would've cost you R100K/month, now you get 30Mb/s U/D on your phone. Crazy.

Looks like LTE to me, regardless of what it says in the status bar.

Pretty sweet speeds.

Some I got on my iPhone 5

32Mb/s down, 25Mb/s up

Very nice!!

Is LTE available on the iPad 4th gen yet meneer?

I ask because I've activated LTE on my account and I've changed the APN on the pad to lte.vodacom.za but I'm still only getting 3G and no other settings available. I was expecting a "enable LTE" setting.

TIA

Damn it, that would explain it then, thanks.

I been sitting here like a tosser for the last 6 hours trying to work out what I'm doing wrong...

Any idea when LTE is going live on the iPad then?

The LTE setting will only become available once the 'carrier settings' file is pushed to your iPad by Apple.
