Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me if LTE is enabled on the iPhone 5S on Telkom Mobile yet? I have the iPhone model that supports Telkom Mobiles 2300Mhz but no option for LTE.

Thanks

AFAIK, there is no such 5s model which supports TDD 2300MHz required for Telkom Mobile. I am sorry, but I can be wrong.

Hi,

You are :)

Below is the Model that I have, you will notice it supports Band 40 which is Telkom Mobiles frequency:

Model A1530*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20); TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40)

Yeah Telkom Mobile will have to do the carrier update first... That might take a very very long time.... It would be awesome though

Got a call now from Telkom Mobile... Apparently my SIM card which is just over a year old, does not support the 2300Mhz frequency.

They will be coming to my house on Friday to do a SIM swap and activate LTE on my iPhone :)

Fingers crossed... Will post an update :)

Is LTE enabled on prepaid yet? I would like to test it on my 5S :)
From other thread: if your SIM is more than one year old you have to swap SIM. All new prepaid SIMs are LTE enabled.

Hi oliverwww

All our SIM cards are LTE enabled. You should be able to use the SIM if you are on the LTE covered area and have a device that supports LTE.

Telkom Mobile

Hi Clayton83

At the moment the only LTE capable devices are A1529(5c) and A1530(5s) models. We are currently busy with the LTE self certification process required by Apple to enable the functionality on all Iphone devices. The date will be confirmed once we receive the confirmation.

This is the answer. In plain language, no Apple device will work on LTE TM network as we speak.

Indeed.... You should get a message saying Carier Update..... Once that happens it enables the LTE function on the iphone. If the carier does not get this from apple LTE will not work. Hopefully TM will get this soon cause it will be interesting to see how widespread and speedwise of Telkom Mobile LTE

Could I not take another (e.g. AT&t) IPCC's file and merge it with Telkom Mobile's IPCC to form custom carrier settings to activate LTE? :)
