iPhone 6 or 6 plus?

Thanks but i'd rather wait a few weeks / months than get a 16GB device - in my opinion it is not worth going for a device with atleast 32GB storage.

I agree with you. 16GB is definitely too small..

I wouldn't use the 6 naked. It's a slippery bugger! Feels fragile too! Disconcertingly light...

Going to collect a Cygnett Workmate today that will add a bit of bulk to the device but give it the protection it derserves.

This would be my 2nd choice...

I had a look at the 6 and 6 Plus today, at my local iStore.

My thoughts:

  • The screens on both are phenomenal. Crisp, clear, and the way they are bonded to the glass gives them a very floaty, water-like look. I'm suitably impressed. The 6 seemed to have the brighter, more contrasty screen, but the size of the Plus' screen made it more appealing.
  • The size: the 6 is absolutely wonderful, if a bit lacking in the weight department. It really is insanely thin, and too light- it feels incredibly fragile because of this. I definitely wouldn't use it without a cover. The same goes with the 6 Plus- despite it being marketed as heavier than my G2, it felt half the weight. The 6 Plus is enormous, and looks bigger than the Note 4 by virtue of the large bezels.
  • The loudspeaker seems adequate, and watching videos and playing games will be a pretty amazing experience on the 6 Plus. Despite the size, I was able to reach the top of the screen with my thumb while holding it normally- something I struggle to do with the much smaller G2 at times (oddly). I suppose that thinness really makes a massive difference in the handling of the device.
Overall, I'm quite impressed with the hardware, even if I would have liked a little bit more heft to preserve the feeling of solidity inherent to the build quality.

The killer for me, though, was iOS. It just looked... dated. I'm not sure how long it would take for me to get used to the "app container and launcher" nature of the OS, but it is off-putting enough for me at this point.

Agreed. One can understand now how the 6 was a bending threshold of 70lbs vs the 90lbs of the plus!

Collected a Cygnett Workmate pouch on the way home from work and I absolutely love it!! It's quite a bulky case but stylish with lots of protection, great fitting and lovely on the hand! It gives the 6 some much needed weight and physical presence.

Seems odd to want to add weight to a device but the disconcertingly light 6 needs it!!

As for aging iOS, I agree the bog standard icon layout gets a bit tiresome. I choose a very simple layout and use search bar to locate the required apps.

Chuffed that iOS 8 is jailbroken. The ability to deviate from the norm is refreshing and most welcome...

Closest iStore to me is like 45kms away :/ Maybe Dions will have it in the mall or something...

You have to see it. Aesthetically, it may not be as jewel-like as the iPhone 5S, but the design language translates far better in hand than in pictures. The in hand feel is excellent- on par with the Galaxy Alpha. It's not particularly good looking, but it just feels... right, especially the 6.

That being said- I was far more impressed with the 6 Plus.

Sure... Using tapatalk so not sure to what extent it resizes. If it's isn't useable I'll re up once I'm back at my desktop.

Yeah think you'll need to resize it when you at your desktop. Didn't come out right ;)

This looks like this ghost town in Africa where a German colony was started. The houses are full of sand now. Saw this on Netflix.

Yeah, I know: "Cool story, bro."

Yeah, it's very cool pic! Not sure where I got it. Could even have been a wallpaper thread over at Macrumors. I spend more time scouring for wallpapers than I ought to! I think it's probably a lot more common a fetish than most people will admit to! :p

I decided to get the 6 Plus, I found it an easy adjustment of about a day or so. Really enjoying the extra screen space though quite a few apps aren't updated to use the new screen size just yet.

To improve grip I'll get the Apple silicone case (when Core gets it).

I will say though, the plus won't be for everyone- it depends on what you want out of a phone. I have been considering getting an iPad mini for some time and I decided that this was a good middle road - I'm happy with the choice.

Ditto... Gonna ditch my iPad mini and have just the iPhone 6 Plus ... Coming from a Z2 Sony the size of the 6 Plus is not bad... I like... A lot

Oh and 1 thing I forgot to mention - the battery life is awesome. My 5S was fading by this time of day and the plus is still on 50%

My 6 is battling a bit. Took it off charge at 7am this morning and I'm currently on 12%. Might have to do with it being jailbroken.

I heard that resetting all settings fixes battery issues. I just did it earlier today so it's still too early to tell if it helped. iOS 8.1 is just generally bad on battery. Try resetting all settings and see if it helps your battery.

Have to agree. Got my 6 plus on Friday. Battery is astoundingly good, with the phone seeing abnormal use from me over the weekend and Monday . I can see this one easily going for more than a full day mixed use.
