iPhone 6 smashes pre-order records

I personally don't think the general iPhone user sits and compares spec sheets.
I would have to agree. Their latest OS will be available to everyone from a 4S and up at the same time and additionally Apple design their software to work on their hardware. This is maybe a reason that they don't require more hardware to run the same App as a Android device. Its a different operating system as well so if you are going to compare specs, I would suggest HTC compete with Samsung and not Apple. Maybe Android needs more hardware... Never considered that.

The article says it all. 4mill order in 24 hours. I don't think Apple can make enough to meet the demand because people are not looking spec sheets and I don't think they have to be so critical of the spec sheets because its all integrated.

I think that extends to the average smartphone user - they simply buy the phone they like as long as it satisfies their needs. It is only a small unfortunately vocal minority who froth at the mouth about such things. Maybe some of them are able to extract maximum output from their devices, maybe they're just bored basement dwelling geeks.

True.

Not this time around. When "retina display" and the A7 processor was announced it was all about the specs.

I see your point but I'm still convinced the average iPhone user gives a crap about specs :p

Maybe Apple have correctly defined their target market.

This pretty much sums it up imo. And in a world where there are so many options out there, having die-hard erm... fans means you've already won half the battle. No need to be better, just be.

1) it's her money and it's none of your business what she spends it on
2) it sounds like she's beyond irritated at your constantly trying to 'inform' her of the ways in which Android is superior.

1) True.
2) She joined us two weeks ago and works in a different department, this was our second proper chat (the first being how she's upset that she managed to chip her 4 month old 5S). :erm:

Why? I know guys (on the forums mainly) who upgrade their PC hardware every couple of weeks. To me they're blowing their money but you know what, it's not my business so I stick out of it.

If they really want to upgrade, then it should be because it's really better and a warranted purchase. I don't think this applies to iPhone folks. They really are brainwashed. But as you said, it's their money and they can do with it however they please.

Oh good grief. The iPhone 5s to iPhone 6 is a pretty good upgrade. It's bigger, thinner, lighter, faster, has better camera, better screen... it's better in every single category. So what's the issue here?

Hmmm... too defensive there.

I didn't disagree with your points, they were just too defensive in light of the described situation. Her statement is crazy talk, and she didn't even give TehStranger an opportunity to discuss his questioning of her replacing a four month old iPhone 5S. For all we know, he would have simply told her that the 5S will most likely run iOS 8 just as well as the iPhone 6 does, for most use cases.

Maybe Apple have correctly defined their target market.

^^ Beyonce / Justin Bieber / One Direction etc. etc. sell to their target market... their fans will buy buy buy... market defined, and market catered for and market cornered.

Musical merit / theory and whatnot matters none... product is delivered as required.

Well I think this factual bold comparison and has hit an all time low :)

By those criteria, nearly every high end Android phone released in the last year and a half is an upgrade.

So Apple is the Justin Beiber/One Direction of the phone world? Actually makes sense.
