iPhone 6 smashes pre-order records

Sure, but less than the Android neckbeard stereotype.

My experience is the opposite as I've never met one of those. Although I do meet lots of people who moan about Apple fanboys. :p

Because he can afford to?

His financial situation is no ones business and if he want to buy one every year that's his prerogative :)

Did I say it isn't?

I've never seen an Apple user 'apologising'. :erm:

Why do you buy the new iPhone every year?

Because I want the latest and greatest iPhone. No other reason.

As for apologising... Have you heard the label "Apple Apologists"? It's been bandied around many times especially when it comes specs over the years.

To the Apple defenders here. Can you guys honestly tell us you don't meet people who fit the description of the stereotypical iSheep/Fanboi?

I can't say that I have. On the otherhand I've never met anyone in tech with an android phone who wasn't completely obnoxious when it came to comparing everything. Seriously, its just a phone. I'm happy with mine, your happy with yours, leave it be.

Firstly, PARAGRAPHS!
I was in a flow :/

She values the known, the fashionable, I get that. But in an age of information, ignorance is a choice. It doesn't mean I'm going to go out and try to convert the iSheeple to the temple of Android, but I am going to sit by, laugh and point at them as they rave about a device that has come a year or two too late.
And you don't care if you look like a neckbeard while doing so. Good on you mate.
FWIW appearance is subjective, and if that's your strongest argument then you're just driving my point home. Bring up the look & feel, the usability, the lack of fragmentation (which is less of an issue now, but anyway) and then yes, we can discuss pros and cons for iOS and Android. But, if you're saying "iPhone 6 is teh pretty, therefore it is teh best" then prepare to be branded an iSheeple.
It's not any kind of argument at all. I'm illustrating the probable thought patterns of your friend. However, it's nothing more your superiority complex that makes you think that attractiveness rates lower on the scale of values than technical specifications, or that objective merits are more worthwhile than subjective ones (the appearance of photos versus the megapixel count of the camera, the mhz of the SoC vs the smoothness of the UX, etc).

Not really, but maybe it's just that if you live in a house of garlic you can't smell garlic on someone else.

I am no Apple defender, but can say I am yet to meet this fanatical Apple fanboy. Have met lots of rabidly fanatical apple haters though.

Disclaimer: I own & use an HTC One M7 dual sim (best music phone ever).

Interesting how our experiences differ. I've also met many Apple haters, but many more Apple fanboys, like properly stereotypical ones. Have never met an Android-neckbearder, either.

The sheeple cannot wait to get an extra row of icons.

The Galaxy S3 had a quad core CPU, the S4 had a quad core CPU and amazingly, the S5 had, wait for it, a quad core CPU. The way you Android fans behave about specs, the S5 should have had a 16 core CPU and the S6 must have at least 32 cores to be a worthwhile upgrade.

No, you!

Now let us not put words into mouths. I said aesthetics are subjective, I didn't say they're unimportant. I don't think the iPhone is the best looking device currently available, it hasn't been for a long time. And if choosing a better looking phone (IMO) with greatly superior specs that is significantly cheaper while offering more makes me a neckbeard, so be it. This neckbeard will continue to laugh at the iSheeple as they wait in line at the iTemple to collect their iPhone 6.

For the record, which is the best looking phone in your opinion?

It absolutely is, by strides. Note4/S5 are just awful, Z2/3 are obelisky, G2 is a chunk of black plastic and G3 is a chunk of brushed plastic, M8 is actually really classy but it's a chunker - let me see what else is there? The MI4? The Honor7? Nexus 5? I'm stretching here. The 5s might have been small but it was beautifully designed and unmistakeable in a sea of slabs.

Also, iOS is significantly better looking than Android. And that's unskinned Android. When you start adding manufacturer UIs it's just a mess. So perhaps that's what she values over customisability or.. all those other advantages of Android.

Sony Xperia Z3.

Your opinion, you're entitled to is, I prefer the Z3 to the iPhone.

iOS looks good. Significantly better? Nice opinion there, will stick in my bag full of opinions as I walk down opinion lane to Opinionville.

I don't know why people watch soapies... just read a iPhone tread on a forum. Much better.

Materials aside, the G3 makes the new iPhone look decidedly average, imo. As does the OPO.

I find the 5S also looks more appealing to me than the new one, though.

Why aren't you using an iOS phone, btw?

Agreed, I think I have met one person (met her on the Gautrain) that discussed brands, fashion etc.

Most buy them for various reasons but the overall reason is they prefer them.

If you want fanatics look for the rabid Android supporters who take down Apple devices before they have even been reviewed (let alone before they touch them)
The look at a Samsung S4/S5/Note product release thread. See how many Apple owners there are stalking the Samsungnites

I buy Apple for entirely rational reasons. The reasons may not be important to some of you but that isnt the point. They are important to me. Why? Because my requirements are different to yours.

The reverse is true - I dont think side-loading apps is important to me.
It may be important to you and thats fine. Go ahead.
