The Galaxy S3 had a quad core CPU, the S4 had a quad core CPU and amazingly, the S5 had, wait for it, a quad core CPU. The way you Android fans behave about specs, the S5 should have had a 16 core CPU and the S6 must have at least 32 cores to be a worthwhile upgrade.

Materials aside, the G3 makes the new iPhone look decidedly average, imo. As does the OPO.

Why aren't you using an iOS phone, btw?

Well, I guess for most of the reasons anyone else would choose an Android phone
1) It's just too small, ultimately. Mainly when it comes to my beloved habit of walk-reading, or one-handed reading in general. The G2 is such a better size for reading on than the 5s.
2) The 5s is pricey and the 5 is underspecced relative to the G2.
3) Android's gotten better, it really has. I can finally sync music from iTunes through Doubletwist and it acts more or less as a default audio player should. My one crucial reading app, which was always a turd on Android (couldn't scroll smoothly on any Android device, despite being perfectly smooth since the iPhone 3GS), released a major update that brought it up to par with othre readers.

I've always felt that the materials used plays a huge roll in a devices aesthetic appeal. That space grey iPhone 6 is a thing of beauty due to the contrast of the polished screen and anodised aluminium. It would've looked even better had they used a sapphire crystal display.

Android really has gotten better but imo is still some ways off iOS when it comes to ease of use and general performance. And I love me some iTunes too... Now that the iPhone has 802 ac I need to invest in another router so my wireless syncing can happen faster.

I think the side by side pic there doesn't do it much justice, compared to the phones in the hand. The shininess of the bezel on the G3, in the hand looks tacky to me. And the iPhone in hand is usually very impressive due to the higher craftsmanship and the way it works in the light, with the factors that hush9300 mentioned.

I come on the Apple threads to chat about the phones, and then find myself becoming the gatekeeper when they inevitably get trolled on by Android fans who can't seem to resist coming on them and telling iPhone users how stupid and brainwashed they are. Left to my own devices I wander into the Android forums and chat about different roms and screenshots, and just generally like smartphones no matter what brand they are.

^^ iOS perhaps is the thing to consider... iOS users have literally only one option when it comes to hardware, the iPhone. Any upgrade to this device is going to be lapped up here. The iP6 is an upgrade from the 5??

I would have to agree but I think there is also a precedent being sent by the Android manufactures as well. Samsung released I think 4 adverts showing so called flaws in Apple iPhone and now the watch. You get the impression then that the Android users are then getting brainwashed by the manufactures themselves and then start trolling.

As far as I can tell it is in every regard - although the increased screen size may not be welcome by all but then there's the iPhone 5s still available which was also a upgrade from the iPhone 5.

On a larger phone the bigger bezels are somewhat of an issue but I don't think it influences the look much. Symmetry has it's own beauty and I don't think the iconic home button is going anywhere.

cerebus is one of the more balanced posters you will find on this board. I on the other hand cannot stand Samsung an if you can find one of their products in my home you can keep it. I think they're the ticks of the tech industry as they've built their success on the back of others hard work due to being a late entrant and at times shear laziness. Granted, the strategy has worked for them over a long period of time, but only Apple has dared to fight them. Now that they're at the forefront there is nobody to imitate and they've taking a slide.

You're doing it wrong. I get the feeling that no one has used a pure Android device. These manufacturers load all their crap on there and slow the Android experience down. Vanilla Android, the way Google intends, is awesome. My next phone will not be a Samsung or any other skinned from a manufacturer. It will be a phone that runs pure Android. Android is just way ahead of iOS and Android L will seek to match iOS's aesthetics.

Here is the crux of the iPhone's strength... it works unlike any Android device could in the Mac environment... as so it should.
You have a Mac/book/pro/iMac and you have the iPhone whatever... you are sorted.

The iPhone6 plus now offers you a biiiig screen option, one more than there was prior to this release.
There are again, other iPhone options without this screen-estate if it does not appeal to you.

If you own an older iPhone, you have upgrade options now. Bigger, better, faster, more.

How can Apple not sell these 6 series like hotcakes?

Reintroducing deep rounded corners like that, and the curves between the glass and the frame - it could have come off as toylike, but it works really well. It's bolder than the 4s -> 5 redesign. On the other hand, remember that they have to maintain the recognisability of the brand. Samsung is starting to go in the same direction - if you see an S5 you can tell immediately that it's a Galaxy phone.

That's not really a true statement.

It does make Apple users feel warm and fuzzy, but it's pretty inaccurate
