Personally, I think the iPhone 4 was the best looking iphone.

Lazy appearance-wise, then, not functionally. It just doesn't look that much different. That's lazy. But, as I said, it appears I have different standards in this sense.

The build quality was shocking - but ...for the price people are willing to overlook that. I'm one of the legions that had to deal with the lifting screen issue. So you're right I guess - it was a [-]Nexus[/-] dud.

You know what happened the first time I connected my nexus to my laptop… nothing. I had to download an app, Android File Transfer, from google before I could do anything. Unfortunately that app made my computer unusable.

The reverse is the same, though? Trying to connect an iPad to a Windows machine... Nightmare.

I'm sure it's a different user experience than what I'm used to but once people adjust to iTunes - if they even go that route - then I can't imagine it's that different.

But my only concern is my ecosystem. What works for me. Which is why you'll rarely find me participating in Android threads. I've got no interest in converting people and I certainly don't feel the need to belittle people for their choice of phone.
 
Who wants to take a bet that the iPhone 6S and 6S+ will remove the antenna bands... And wait for it...

The S will stand for Sapphire :D

I would certainly hope it is. Using iTunes on Windows is just awful. Or if it's the same then iTunes generally is just awful.

So because Apple decides not to support an otherwise widely-supported standard, Google needs to come to the party? That's ridiculous.

TBH I don't use actively iTunes for much. Sure it handles my backups (that's done without any involvement on my side) but the only time I physically connect my phone, or tablet, to the computer and sit down in front of itunes is when I'm setting up a new device or installing a major release of iOS.

That's not he point. The point is that each device above runs a different iOS6, so saying that every device will be running a single OS is wrong. This list is also brought out after the keynote , so as we sit here we have no idea what Apple will give us and what they won't.

iPad 2 is old - but these were released when iOS6 first came out. I didn't use my iPad for much after this and ended up selling it, so I never kept up with what was left out with iOS7. We also have no idea what will be left out of of iOS8 on what device.

Not everyone knows this.

It's impossible to put PDFs on my iPad or songs on my iPod without it. Horrid experience, every time.
 
Lol, I seriously don't get all the animosity towards iTunes. I honestly don't....

In any event with iCloud integration the need for iTunes has diminished some what.

I don't agree with you.

The core functionality of the OS is still the same across all devices. Certain features are removed simply because older devices cannot support them, and it would compromise performance. It's similar to a vehicle manufacturer releasing a car with different spec levels- they are still the the same model of car.

Or, running Windows 7 on a Pentium 4 with all the settings set to max. Sure, it works, but it's not very usable. Scaling down the effects leads to a different looking variant of the same OS, minus features that your older hardware simply cannot support at an acceptable manner.
