I had 2 Nexus devices that could send files to each other via NFC over Bluetooth. It was slow, unreliable and did nothing else besides file transfer. Apple are actually setting up an infrastructure for NFC to finally make it usable.

The Superbeam android app is the schnitz. Very fast and secure file transfers via wifi direct between two android devices.

Like what?
Sapphire glass, better resolution screen, more megapixel camera, more memory (2Gig seriously?), Bluetooth 4.1, bigger battery (although the leaks were spot on) damn one can go on and on.

It has sapphire. The memory is not a issue, iOS has always managed just fine with a little less memory than Android.

We'll have to see how well the camera performs. Megapixels are not the beginning and end of what makes great pictures.

I must admit, I was expecting more.

/disappointed
Iphone 6 is mildly disappointing to me. Apple Watch is better than I expected. It's stunning.

Well actually the iPhone 6+ looks fantastic but it's another $100.

What's it about the Apple fans and NFC now? When Android came out with it(years ago), all they could do is be negative about it: "there's no use for it", "it's a k@rk technology"....etc.
Now their cumming in their pants about it, probably sitting there with a roll of toilet paper while streaming the event.
It was crap because nobody did a decent job of making it useful. That's obvious.

The 6+ looks cool. I think the pic of the watch in the mybb thread was ugly, but I checked it out on gsmarena. It looks nice but I wanna see some videos of it in action.

Ja, I know its crap. But that's not my point, I'm saying they shot down the technology when it came out with Android back then, now its all up and giddy with them. And people is talking like Apple is doing it right........how do they know, from the show? they haven't even used it in person yet. gullible?

It's not NFC they're excited about, it's the fact that they appear to have a chance at making mobile payments work. NFC is just a conduit for that. Google had years to get it with Google Wallet and failed abjectly. Now maybe Apple can actually crack it, which would be a breakthrough in commercial transactions.

They have already signed contracts with 3 major credit card companies. And signed some payment processing deal with some Chinese company with NFC as the key component

So not only will they do it, and make it successful but they have a large customer ready to use it already
