iPhone 6

Ja, I'll go who ever has the best value, definitely. It's a mid level contract, MTN Anytime350... Reckon the 4.7" iPhone 6 16gb will possibly cost around R700 on this contract, will look and see what 8ta and Voda offer but doubt there'll be a significant difference... Won't go for anything less than 32gb though...

I think you might get it for a bit cheaper, like a R549 contract, or R589.

But let's see what the pricing is when it gets released. Exciting times. :)

At that price I'll take 2!! :p

Yeah, very exciting!!

5/5s has been a bit of a lemon! Weak build quality, it's a model which has aged poorly!

Had the pleasure of playing with a S3 a couple of months ago! Such a comfortable size for me personally, 4.7"....

It needs to be a game changer, like what the 4 or 4s was. Just in time for me, my upgrade became due July already :D

Yup, also played with a 5S and thought the screen is just too small.

Hopefully battery life will be great with iOS8.

Yeah, 4" isn't going to cut it any longer! Only reason Apple sells so many is because that's your only option.

Would be interesting if the 5/5s/5c were discontinued and replaced with a 6s/6m/6L = 4"/4.7"/5.5". Would be interesting to see how well the 4" iteration sold in relation to the bigger models.

Battery life is an area where I reckon progress has stalled somewhat! Yes batteries have gotten bigger but we need to see charge times coming down and authentic wireless charging! I reckon we a year or 2 away from 3-5 minute 0-100% charge times... If they bring the charge times down then getting through a day on a single charge no longer becomes a priority...Hell, they could even reduce the size and capacity of batteries and leave space for other niceties!!

I'm betwixt and between on the size issue...

Typing anything on my 5S remains a singularly frustrating experience - in the words of the SO, it works fine if you have toothpicks for fingers... So more real estate would be useful >> BUT, the promised 3rd party apps for typing/writing that are due in iOS 8 will probably fix just about all problems in this regard?

More real estate would then only(?) be a plus in terms of web-browsing/youtube etc? >> but I have an iPad for that... So not necessarily convinced...

Not sure how much of an irritation the bigger form factor might be i.t.o. carrying it around, and the all-too-forgotten issue(?) of not being able to reach all of the screen with one hand... Mentioned this before, but having had a phone with a stylus before - one doesn't really appreciate how much you actually rely on being able to control it single-handedly, until that's no longer an option...

So would also be interested to see what happens if the smaller models are retained.

Having said all of that -- would probably upgrade to the next biggest size, assuming they bring out two larger versions. But cannot see myself going for a phablet of sorts... [but who knows...]

You do get used to the size & when you're using a phone with a smaller display again, you get irritated.

Most likely - but for the 1st time with an Apple device, I'll probably need to spend a fair bit of time experimenting with the different sizes before making a call...

And I know the feeling - I had my iPad for 6 months before getting my 1st iPhone... to say it felt a little underwhelming would be stating it mildly! With iOS so similar/identical across all Apple's devices, I guess it's to be expected - but it was quite the adjustment for me at the time...

Hopefully when iOS8 gets released, things should be better.

For example, with SwiftKey keyboard you can resize the keyboard to five different sizes, especially if you have sausage fingers.

Apple will be smart if they retain some sort of 4 in phone even if it's only an upgraded 5S.A portion of their customers(mabe 5% to 15%)will prefer a smaller phone. My mom refuses to have anything to do with any phone bigger than 3.5 in.She thinks a iPhone is huge.

It is costing more than the 5 in the USA, so expect it to be quite a bit more than our 5 was released for here.
No..it is certainly not going to be cheap.

From the leaks I have seen so far those stripes on the back give it a really ugly look from the rear.

Agreed!!!!!

Actually hoping that isn't quite the final finish. Hoping for that finish posted in the Spigen case ad.
