Without unlocking the phone, I swipe the message to the left, 'reply' appears. Click on it and type reply.

yeah I noticed the same. You type the message, click send and it just vanishes. 6s.

Works perfectly here, both methods of swiping left in Notification Centre and swiping down on the top banner notification.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Also I've seen the phone get ridiculously confused after I hit send button (KB doesn't disappear for instance)

I've updated my Whatsapp and it works now. From lock screen and notification screen.

I'm referring to replying from notifications.

What keyboard is that?

Tested on a 5, 5s and 6.

I was on 9.1 and had a notification for an update to 9.1 again... Did the update and will test it soon enough. 6 Plus

It works for me too but I updated today before using WA so no idea if the update fixed it because I wasn't aware if it was broken or not.

I have no other KBs installed, so my guess is it's the default one going nuts.

Here, seems to be a known bug:

This is the keyboard for alphanumeric passcodes to unlock the iPhone.
It should be the keypad or the keyboard. Not both. That's a bug.

This happened to me as well. Only once though. I can't remember why or how I got rid of it.
